Are performance (spandex+ polyester) like old school bicycle shorts?

I just ordered 3 of the cotton style. Hope they are sized similar to Hanes/FotL. The slick ones would have me feeling like my pants are falling off, i hate that feeling, lol. Thanks, OP.
