There has been tons of complains online with google play GC where Google has not honored the GC value. You get this strange error with invalid card and it will ask you to upload picture of the physical card and receipt of purchase. Even after uploading those, the card would stay invalid. This is surprisingly normal to happen with google GC and there's no way you can get your money back at that point. GCs are non-refundable. They ask you to contact google customer Sevice but they are useless and hopeless. You can google this issue
I am not saying buying at Amazon will cause the issue, but it's been happening quite a bit when bought in local stores.

Just a heads up


If you've clicked on the main promotion link in the OP, your promo code will automatically be applied to your account. So re-applying it at checkout won't work. You will still qualify for the $10 credit if you purchase $100+ w/ the added blurb during checkout

This has happened to me twice - once with a purchase from Target, another just purchasing from Amazon. Is there any way to fix it?

I tried every venue possible , reached out to so many customer service agents. Went to local store , spoke with manager . No use !! That was a hard lesson learned. Since then I don't buy google GCs anymore.
For the Amazon one, try reaching out to customer service, hopefully they are better than local stores. You can try calling your credit card company as well.
At my local store I made the mistake of paying cash during holiday season. Which is a total no no for gift cards
