interesting perks to this tv. Waterproof, outdoor tv, I guess for patio use. I may want to wait until next gen after the beta people buy the first gen product. But I love the idea of Outdoor waterproof tv. Cool

Is this a "new' thing, waterproof outdoor tv?

p.s. I just went to Walmart to look at user reviews and this one was interesting:

1 out of 5 stars review
Verified Purchase
Not truly an outdoor TV
Great bargain for price but doesn't stand up to the outdoor elements. After about a month of owning, condensation started to develop inside screen. Maybe I got a dud but it's not worth the risk or hassle of getting manufacture to repair or replace. Took me two months to finally get a resolution. Stick with the brands that work well in this category.

... to be fair there a number of very positive reviews too, maybe read them, if you are interesting in buying this tv.

yea i did see the reviews, but I'm not too concerned, it's gonna be under a covered patio, and I sprung for the 4 year warranty (only 61 bucks) so if anything goes wrong they can just replace it or give me my money back or whatever. If I can get that much time out of it I'll be satisfied at this price

Exactly. I had another tv that failed 4 months before the extended warranty expired. I used the credit to pay for the next TV and kept the arrant to do exactly this.

Does the extended warranty cover outdoor elements?

I live three houses from the ocean, so salt kills these TVs quick. I've been using cheap $150-$200 TVs outside, which I always need to replace before 2 years. Are outdoor TVs longer lasting the elements, or are they just a lot brighter? I'll be getting a tv cover, which I've never used before, so I'm hoping this also helps with longevity.

FYI The tv will be installed under a patio cover, but there a few hours during the day that the sun is angled with direct sunlight. Not sure if it makes sense to get a full sun vs the partial sun. For $599 vs 2K+, might be worth it.

No but they are usually much more expensive than this.

This deal is back but I can't imagine it's effective as an outdoor television with only 700 nits brightness.
