Only the frame is Steel/Alumimim. Tabletop is MDF (Cannot hold much weight, chips, cannot withstand high heat). At that thickness it would break by an average dad karate chop lol.

While this may suck as an outdoor table it would probably make a great diy foldable little kids ping pong table. Ping pong balls don't weigh much and they bounce great off MDF (although aluminum is best). I've been looking for one and they all are $100+. The table is a little narrow even for a kids table but the adjustable height is plus for little ones.

At 1/4 the cost, plus 4 chairs I will give it a shot as a mini ping pong table for my 5 and 6 yo.

I have this and second the review. The top cracks really easy and is MDF under the finish. The table overall is pretty cheap, good for 2-3 trips, on the other hand, Stools are solid and it has hold up for two years now just under a trap!

Got this last year for $40. Keep it in my suv for impromptu picnics at the park after grabbing some take out. Over happy but its not refined. Sharp edges, many pinch points, storing chairs back in a bit tricky as the plastic clamp that holds in place is week. I wouldn't run a camp stove on top without adding some protection. Strong enough for holding plates of food but not enough for someone (even a kid ) to sit on. Overall its the smallest package of a table and chairs and can fit into ancar trunk easily.

I'd get one but having more than 50% chance of damage isn't worth the hassle.

and it says 110 lb for the table capacity but a commenter above says it can't really hold much weight. so likely not good for a work table at home in the garage.

Wow some really bad reviews. looked at the video and thought it was a good buy, but read the reviews and passed. Maybe for people on the lighter side, less than 140 lbs.

MDF and outdoors do not mix. The stuff is a sponge.

Got this early last year. True the top is MDF, we've used it solely at the beach with kids. We're just careful to wipe down anything wet on it ASAP. It's not the most confidence inspiring based on feel but it has held up just fine. It opens and closes nice (though I can't manage to do it without somehow getting my skin caught in it when closing). It was $30 well spent. For our needs, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again at this price.

How's the overall structure? Like would replacing the mdf with a decent grade sanded (and olied) plywood make this a decent unit?

probably not worth the effort. The mdf is wrapped by the aluminum skirt and the hardware and legs is prob at its limits of holding it together and upright. Adding table thickness will not allow the seats to be placed inside. Its a cheap portable table. Not really meant to heavily used. I think its good for picnics ans perhaps setting up a quick demo booth type thing. I like the adustable hight for my toddler to use. Its a good side table when I grill

Ah, thanks. You saved me either a visit to WM to be disappointed (honestly, that's the definition of nearly all WM visits) or an order and having to send it back. I'll keep looking for a better project base.
