Epic/Tencent's end goal is to just gain marketshare by whatever means, and then we can all speculate what happens then - this is on record during interviews for when their "generosity" will end. Their shady business model hurts all competitors (including GOG, itchi.io, etc) as they pursue marketshare from Steam. As long as there are alternatives offering a better service, those pushing PC gaming as a community, or one that innovates/develops technology that helps PC gaming as a whole, my money goes to all of them ahead of EGS. If Valve continues to maintain their stellar 20+ year record, and since they are the reason PC gaming is what it is today, they still get a big thumbs up from me.

Tbf steam has a near monopoly on pc gaming right now and competition is always good.

I would not rank epic as highly as steam either, but steam should get competition.

Is the monopoly based on anti-competitive practices, or because it's the most preferred and well liked? There's a difference. Don't confuse a free market that has and continues to overwhelmingly and willingly choose a company versus one instituting abusive tactics to get there.

If Epic/Tencent want it so badly, then innovate, offer a better experience, lower prices for consumers, do something to help the PC ecosystem, anything to make a statement that they actually ARE an improvement.

I just bought the VR version for $15 from cdkeys...

I had tried wabbajack with FUS and 4k textures before that... it took hours even with automated installs. ..

I'm just playing the vanilla version now and it's decent as is.

This is what i don't get. So many people could update their markets and make them more usable but no one wants to put money into their market and make it better

Purchased this back in mid April for one of the first games to play with the steam deck, third time buying the same game. Hard to fit a dvd into the deck and make it work. Now give me back my $2! I should have waited!

Yup that's why I am not spending a dime on their site. I will take the free games tho even if I will never play em.
