    Mirrorless is not shrinking and the need to record 4K and 8K has only increased.

    They're not common, but they're still used in some DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. They still tend to have SIGNIFICANTLY higher read/write speed than your average SD card of 2023 does.

    I doubt any laptop supports this.

    This is basically only used in high end cameras and camcorders.

    Right now, I believe only Sony is using Type A. All other cameras that are using CFExpress are using Type B. Consumer cameras at least. Odds are users are looking for Type B if they have a CFExpress slot on their cameras. Those that don't are most likely looking for SD cards.

    I have Sony and while I like that CFExpress Type A also allows for SD cards, it's pretty much only Sony using them so this statement is way off.

    I've been using a sintech adapter [sintech.cn] with a WD 256gb 2230 m.2 SSD for nearly 2 years now, and it's been great. The adapter itself was a about $30, and the SSD was about $20. If this kind of price was available on this speed and capacity back then, I would have just gone this Sandisk route, but even today if you want higher capacity definitely consider the sintech or a similar adapter with the 1tb or 2tb 2230 SSDs that are highly available now thanks to the steamdeck.
