Not quite true. CSP has a 48 month turn around. Kind of slows down that churn wheel. (bummer)

After you get your card(s) contact chase, phone or message, and request 1st of month as payment date thus the closing date will be 4th. The points posted by 5th. Been doing it for last 8yrs, works everytime
You can only request specific payment date not closing date. If you request last day of month, weekend at month end "might" affect closing. That is why I chose the way I did.
I have a Chase Card & my statement says;
Open Date 8/23
Close Date 9/22
Payment 10/19

Base on that I'm going to want
Open Date 11/2
Close Date 12/1
Payment 12/28
Any purchases after 12/1 will post in Jan

I just want to make sure I get this right. The 85,000 bonus will put me (way) over the top to get the companion pass. But, I should wait to spend the required amount (or finish spending that required amount in December) after I get my statement for Novemeber spending after the 1st of December. When I pay off the December bill on January 1st, that will get me a companion pass for 24 and 25? So I don't want to spend the full amount until the December billing cycle. And then pay it off after January 1st. Will it make a difference if my due date is like the 5th or something like that?
I want to make sure I understand your question. How will the 85K points put you over the top for the companion pass, do you mean for THIS year? Southwest resets your companion pass earnings to 0 every year, that's why we are discussing optimizing getting the points in 2024 as early as possible to have it for nearly all of 2024 and 2025.

If you are on the same page as me, basically you don't want to "earn" the points until 2024. So the safest thing to do is dont' hit the minimum spend until 2024. Like even if you underspend by $10, spent the $10 on Jan 1st. Others in here have optimized it even further but if you don't want to risk it and don't care about a few weeks without companion pass just don't hit the minimum spend until 2024.

This explains it: https://thepointsguy.com/credit-c...ss-points/

FYI - I'm not an expert on this just giving my 2 cents, others can correct me.

Yeah that helps my confused mind. Ya'll are talking about going from zero points to the full 136,000 right at the beginning of January. My situtation is different because I already have a personal card (I'm sitting at about 100,000 points) and would need to hit that spend to get the bonus by Novemeber to have the points apply in December.

Ideally should work but 12/30-31 being weekend and 1/1 non business day may or may not influence the actual dates. You may be taking somewhat of a risk.

Is this a special or the normal deal? I thought it was pretty typical to get 80k points on the business and 50k for the personal. I'm wondering if it makes sense to see if a better personal deal comes in the next month or two.

2 years ago I got 100k points on a personal card with $3-5k spend I believe.

You are right, these are their typical standard card offerings. The intent of my post is the timing. If you start the process now, you have enough time to request pmt/stmt date changes and avail the pass for almost 24 months (2024-25).
I do not have any affiliation with slickdeals or southwest and don't know why there is an "Advertiser Disclosure" at the top.

In your case you are right. You will get the pass good from Dec 23 to 12/31/24. Make sure the 100000 points you are talking about are companion pass qualifying points and not just RR points in your account.

I can't remember, can we book with points and still use the companion pass? So using Southwest points to pay instead of money and still utilize the CP?

Yes you can.

Agreed.

And I'm not saying its for sure gonna happen, but, most years, including last year, in late Oct or early November, there is a better offer than 50k for the individual card. (Last year it was 75k bonus for $3k spend on individual card---happened on Nov 4, 2022) Just sayin'....maybe wait a few more weeks.
