2. Get one of the personal credit cards to get 50000+1000 points after spending 1000 in 3 months

if you have A List Preferred, it would only be $833 spend at 24 points/$1.
Signup for a southwest credit card: 50,000 points for $1000 spend.
Already have the credit card? Refer 2 friends: each one that signs up earns you 10,000 points.
Or like others have said: Pre-pay taxes or property tax which if you did the full $20k would cost about $400 for the processing fees.
Cancel the cards, repeat every other year or alternate with a spouse. You get the pass for 2 years if you time it right.
Will I be able to link my existing RR# to that card later on or not?
Also, I see a promotion in my RR account to register for companion pass ASAP, do I have to do that or just get the points on the card and then register?
Thanks! Will look. I currently have a personal southwest cc. Called chase and they told me I had to cancel this card and reapply but couldn't tell me when I could be eligible.
Business card looks eligible for me.
So, I see this on southwest:
"Companion qualifying points/flights only. Resets annually on Jan 1."
Scenario:
I get approved for the cards today. Plan on getting $4500 on one card, $800 on the other card. Then wait until January to do the last $700 total in spend...
Then the bonus hits end of Jan. I have 130k pts, but would need to get the other 5k pts again, because the spend I put on at the end of 2023, doesn't count. Is that correct?

Out of total 6000 spending requirements you should spend atleast 5000 after December closing date, before that spend only upto 1000

Can anyone confirm that those 6K bonus pts are still active?

You can only request specific payment date not closing date. If you request last day of month, weekend at month end "might" affect closing. That is why I chose the way I did.
I have a flight with the family for 1/4/24-1/8/24. I was thinking about changing my payment date to the 28th or 29th (12/28/23 is thu, 12/29 is fri and 1/1/24 is mon). when you mention that weekends/holidays "might" affect closing, do you mean SW might move the closing date earlier or set it the same date as the payment date?
I thought if i set the payment date for 28, there's a chance the companion pass would kick in before 1/4/24...and i would designate the companion; cancel the flight for that companion and get flight credits .

So go to Chase Refer A Friend site, get your link and ask someone close to you (parent, friend, brother) to do you a favor and get a credit card.
That's what I would do if I was in need --- and I'm in the same situation and probably going to do that with my brother -- but I hope his credit is good enough to get the card. (fingers crossed).
I also like the idea of the other poster to buy a business select flight for APRIL 2024 get tons of points from it....then go or don't go in April, and get the refund...that's a little shady but gotta do what you gotta do.
Or buy some silver or gold and pay the credit card processing fee (assuming you can afford the $20k outlay).
P.S. You could even offer to your friend/brother/etc that you will let them spend the 20k referral points you receive when they are ready to book........You are needing them as companion pass qualifying points...it would still be a 'win' for you even if you let your acquaintance have the 20k to spend...that person would get the 50k from sign up, plus 20k from you to spend...and everyone wins......... I may have to propose that to someone if my brother's credit isnt yet good enough for a card.
