Southwest CompanionPass
1. Get Southwest Performance Business credit card for 80000+5000 points after spending $5000 in 3 months
2. Get one of the personal credit cards to get 50000+1000 points after spending 1000 in 3 months
The above 2 cards will get you 136000 Southwest rapid reward points qualifying you for a companion pass.
The bonus points are posted on the statement date following your spending requirements are met. Therefore, make sure to complete spending requirements and combined $5000 spending ONLY AFTER your December statements so that the points are awarded/posted in January and then the companion pass will be good for 2024-25. If you time it properly you can get the pass effective Jan 4 or 5

if you have A List Preferred, it would only be $833 spend at 24 points/$1.
Signup for a southwest credit card: 50,000 points for $1000 spend.
Already have the credit card? Refer 2 friends: each one that signs up earns you 10,000 points.
Or like others have said: Pre-pay taxes or property tax which if you did the full $20k would cost about $400 for the processing fees.
I thought that property tax payments aren't valid towards the bonus points? Someone mentioned Costco gift cards do
To qualify for 24-25 companion pass, minimum 135000 points need to be posted to your southwest account after 1st January. The bonus points post on the statement date following your spending requirement is met for the specific card. Therefore, you MUST complete the spending requirements only after December statement. Your statement dates maybe different for each card, so pay attention to each card and its statement date. Since just the bonuses (80k/60k+75k) are enough to qualify for the pass you don't need spending points to post in 2024. You can start spending as soon as you get the card, just don't meet the spending requirement before Dec statement.
Hope it clarifies a bit.
I applied for the same card as I had before. If I apply for a premier or preferred would I get approved now? I realized that I applied for the business and was approved even though I received my bonus in 2022 but it was a different card level (premier vs. preferred)
The only thing you can do is try to get the personal card bonus before December end and thus qualify for atleast 23-24 pass
They've got a pretty good deal going right now for 50% off

lets say I pay $900 for 18000 points. the $900 would count towards the minimum spend for the bonus points right?
Or Feb/March if I use card for 5K and 1K sooner, right?
Also, my wife already have those cards. Can she refer me and I still get those extra points?

1. I was approved instantly for the personal ($20,000 spending limit). Requested expedited delivery of card immediately after and was granted.
2. The weirder part that I'm hoping for feedback on: I did the business card immediately after. Once again, I was immediately approved, which I was surprised by considering how many people on this thread seem to have to call or wait for approval. Anyway, the weird part was I was only given a $5,000 credit limit, which is very low. Especially considering I was given a credit limit of 20K for the personal earlier today. Did I do something wrong in my answers when applying? I have never applied for a business card before.
Anyway, that's my experience. I am buying a new car next week and plan to just have the dealer charge these two credit cards for amounts slightly below the spend required to hit the card/mile bonuses. Then put the cards away until January 1st and then do the other charges required to hit the spend levels required that day.
That said -- I also need to get the companion pass as early as possible in January.
Do I need to contact chase and have them set the payment due date as January 1st or 2nd? Or did I apply too late (December 6) for both cards to be able to do this and still get the companion pass in early January?
Sorry for the newb questions.
