These same people will tell you that you'd be better off not owning a TV at all if you're not buying an 83" OLED.
So of course, I totally needed a second one, and when I saw the UltraGear 49" with increased curvature for around $800 earlier this year I thought I hit the jackpot. Then I discovered it was VA. So maybe it is for some people, but it certainly wasn't for me.
I'd say the post was clearly useful for people rather than pointing out it is supposedly so obvious.

Its a great monitor for me and the 240hz jump over the 120hz Samsung I replaced was a nice upgrade for gaming.
Overall, I would say that most of the 49" ultra ultrawide displays are very similar (Samsung, this one, AOC, etc) and price point should probably be the only real differential when making a decision.

I own a Acer Predator 32" Curved 1440P 165Hz GSync display, and it's awesome! I cannot perceive any latency running games at high (>120fps) framerates in 4K DL-DSR upscaled. Picture is super fluid with GSync + VSync, and the color/contrast is great too with some tweaking. The only complaint is the viewing angles are not as good as a IPS/OLED display.
If those things don't bother you, go for it. You'll save some dough. But don't dismiss it outright.
