The installers are charging ridiculous prices to install these lights.

FWIW, the 100' Govee version is $229 at Sam's for those who are members. I was watching the Govee 100' on prime day and they dropped to $299 with a $40 off coupon for me, so $259. The Eufy string has a dedicated warm white LED, versus the Govee which may not match your existing landscape lighting as well. The Govee is more of a known quantity and has some community integrations for Hubitat and HA etc. The Eufy claim to integrate with their cameras and can respond to human presence, assuming the camera can reliably detect a human in the first place. Lol. Still not sure what, if anything, I'll get.

I don't know what you were quoted but you would have to pay me an absolute fortune to climb up a rickety ladder to taller homes' eves, attach 1-3 of these things, climb back down, move the ladder a few feet and do it again, praying the whole time you don't piss off any wasps or yellow jackets. It may not technically be skilled labor but potentially dangerous work like that costs a lot for a reason.

Of course we may have different perspectives because my friend's dad fell off a tall ladder and became paralyzed. He couldn't work, his wife left him and his life just fell apart so I've always appreciated the people that are willing to completely remove that risk from my life, you know?

How much would you charge to risk your health and safety?

Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear that happened to your friends Dad. That definitely took a hard turn. I hope he's able to heal and find happiness from that tragic event.

Installation says DIY but that seems unlikely with a product such as this one.

Taking one for the team on this. So far, the box appears to contain no instructions— no manual, no link, no QR code. The outside of the box mentions a "eufylife" app, but in the Apple App Store at least, that's a health app for a scale. One good thing is I think the strings of lights may use a standard, round, 3-pin connector that you can just buy online if you need to make extensions, etc. I've got a question in to Eufy about instructions, what app to use, and how to pair with AI cameras/homebase/whatever because the lights don't appear in the Eufy Security app for the integrations they mention.

If you're going to install these, do yourself a favor and factor in a 4-24hr rental of a cherry picker. Turns a horrible job into a less horrible job. You can clean your gutters while you're up there. I haven't decided if I'm going to take the plunge or not, but the $350 rental would be way cheaper than hiring it out, and I'm not a friend of ladders.

You typically get a much nicer product than this when done professionally. This looks like crap in my opinion with the wire exposed, more like a temporary lighting display than a permanent install.

Q: How many 16-foot segments can be attached in a single string?

A: 6 maximum.

At least for IOS here is the link to the app. It does appear to have the lights available to add.
