Quake 2 was recently updated, includes new expansion pack, Quake 2 64, online and local (split screen) co-op, and even bot support for online and local DM and TDM multiplayer modes.

Always wanted to try out Skyrim but never had a PC up to the task. Is it any good on Switch? Is $30 a good price? Worth an additional $5 for the Anniversary edition? I could do my own research, but Slickdeals participants always seem to have the most representative opinions.

I personally felt that Skyrim was not enjoyable on the Switch or PC. The game feels 15 years old and even at release (gameplay wise) was probably showing it's age back that.

Now, world building, story, content, etc it cannot be beat. But the actual gameplay & combat felt like a PS1 - PS2 level jank. Honestly as much money as they have made from rereleases I cannot believe Bethesda has not released a (optional) gameplay revamp or add major quality of life improvements like the Witcher 3 group did. All the work is there already on the PC in form of mods. Just bundle that together like W3 or I believe Bethesda is currently doing with Fallout 4. I'd rather a modern playing game over paying for lipstick on a big graphics improvements.*

I've never played the Anniversary edition but I think all of the improvements are to visuals. If you were playing in handheld mode it might not even be noticeable (might be...who knows).

*Clearly I am in the minority in this opinion based on reviews and fanbase.

Good suggestion, thanks. Apparently the motion controls on the Switch make for a unique experience. I found a post from only three months ago where people are agreeing that it's quite playable on the switch, and some even prefer the Switch's graphics.

This is the kind of feedback I was looking for, thanks.

By all accounts, Skyrim works fine on Switch, the main drawback vs PC is that there are no mods, and loading times are probably a bit longer.

$30 is a solid price for it on Switch, it's only been cheaper than that once: https://www.dekudeals.com/items/t...s-v-skyrim

No opinion on the Anniversary edition

I felt the same way. The actual fighting in Skyrim just wasn't fun. The irony is that I think Starfield is exactly the opposite, with great shooting game play, but a fairly boring world and characters.

It's excellent on switch, the graphics are decent not mind blowing. It's an old game so wherever you play it's not going to look good, that's just the nature of a 12 year old game. Portably it's great but the price is VERY high. On Xbox ps and pc it's around 10-15$ where was switch is 30$ which for an 12 year old game is insane. If you have another platform to play get it on that. If you only play Skyrim then maybe it's worth it, or if you only have a switch then get.

They're using Halloween 🎃 as a marketing gimmick. Make sure you deku to get the lowest price history because some of them ain't it.

Just bought a switch lite for the purpose of pkaying skyrim. Ive bought this game multiple time for different consoles but i recently bought the anniversary edition for the switch. Im having the best time, havent touched my ps5 in 3 weeks since i got the switch lite. Skyrim on the nintendo switch lite is awesome.

I totally see your point, and now looking back can somewhat agree. The game only had a warm charm that drew many people in. The jank is part of the Bethesda experience and some love it because it's funny and entertaining most of the time.

For $30, it's hard for me to say yes. I loved it and have hundreds of hours played on pc thanks to modding and such. But selling a 15 year old single player game that is still only half-off seems petty.
