I just have to ask you, do you actually own a pair of Grip On locking pliers to make that rather stark assessment? I own a couple pairs of Grip Ons and Proto rebrand Grip Ons, and they're all very high quality. Great fit and finish, and the release lever is much easier and less sudden of a release than the traditional Vise Grip levers. As mentioned in my OP, the fact the Grip Ons are painted, keeps them from rusting... and Vise Grips do rust.

You're welcome to your own opinion, but I have to ask what your "low quality" opinion is based upon?

Do you know how to read? I went out of my way to say I wasn't crapping on the deal, just wasn't sure how people were using them and was looking for feedback.

At no point did I suggest nobody else had a use for them.

I often have the same feeling as you, but only when they say it as a statement.
'Giantcrazy' was significantly different, as he genuinely was asking a question regarding their usability, plus he genuinely thanked ppl for their input after that.

Since Malco didn't make long nose pliers, I'll probably go for these. Was kind of waiting for a sale or something.

GripOn is pretty low quality for high price. I would go for Irwin or Bremen from Harbor Freight.

Are these better than the Jeff Epstein store deal for the Malcos recently posted?

Seems weird to have a 'deal' at regular price… but i get it based on the text above

Channellock pricing is pretty "sticky" on Amazon. There have been occasional deals here and there, but no like Knipex. My concern was that the suggested retail price might increase on these in 2024.

The above said, you can get a better deal at Zoro with a 20% coupon, if you have one. As an ex - the 10" pliers at Zoro are $28.79, but would only be $23.04 after the 20% coupon. It's more difficult posting Zoro deals, tho, because there is $50 min for free shipping, and the person has to have a coupon (which tend to be easy to get).

I've been impressed by Grip-Ons, but they certainly don't compare to the Malcos I got from Harry Epstein's. But Malco doesn't make long nose (or "needle" nose) locking pliers, just curved and straight jaw locking pliers. That's why I'll probably get these. $22.50 (after HD vet discount) for the 10" pliers seems fair.

Not to crap on the deal - but I've never had a need personally for long nose locking pliers. I get why there are straight and curved toothed versions, but is there a particular application for the long nose locking pliers?
Sometimes the regular jaws are too wide for a given task.

But when you do need them, you'll be glad you bought these.

The need depends mostly on the user, not the tool.
Some ppl may work on things far more seldom, or with a far lesser variety of jobs/projects and may never or rarely need them, while others may work on an wide variety of things on a daily or near-daily basis and these are a vital and very useful tool for them.

Just offhand, I've found long-nose locking pliers incredibly useful when encountering things such as cotter pins in tighter places, or installing drum brake springs when your specialty spring installer tool isn't right there and available.
These are only 2 uses out of the countless uses I've run across where they actually saved the day.

I got the ten inch and they are really nice thanks op definitely my nicest locking pliers, came next day. There have been many situations where ive said I wish I had something like this before, and while I don't have a specific need for them at this very moment, I know I will be glad to have these in my toolbox in many future situations.

Amazon reduced the 10" version down to $24.95 so I picked up both the 10" and the 6" set.
This will be the first Grip On tools for me and I've been itching to check out Grip Ons for quite awhile. Now was a good opportunity to do that, as I think you have a valid point about a possible/likely 2024 price increase.

Pretty sure these are rebranded Grip-on given the unique design and both brands are made in Spain.

A couple years ago I bought two small grip-on vice grips and they had obvious heat treat issues as I bent the locking screw on both of them the first time using them and then the jaws wore out quicker than chinesium.
