House Rules:
Rather than just putting tiles in rows (of runs or sets) on the table, you can build a Scrabble-style grid of tiles. For instance, a red 1 can be part of a red 1-2-3 run intersecting with a set of three 1s (red, yellow, blue). Tiles can intersect or stand on their own.
Once played, all the tiles are in a common space. Anyone can rearrange the tiles any way they want, in order to use more tiles from their hand. Anything goes, as long as at the end of their turn, the table is valid (all tiles are part of a run or set of at least three).
Without these rules, it's basically just a card game, not fully taking advantage of the tile format.

Do check your tiles, though, some reviews mention missing/duplicate tiles. Happened to us on a set we ordered during COVID, but has not been an issue on a couple of sets we've ordered for gifts within the last year or so.

My wife introduced me to this game, she was pretty good at it and still wins roughly half the time. It is a game of luck and skill in identifying and taking advantage of opportunities.

From the rules:
Players try to table the greatest amount
of tiles by rearranging or adding to sets which are already on the table. Sets can be manipulated in many
ways (examples follow) as long as at the end of each round only legitimate sets remain and no loose tiles
are left over.
