4tb sata3 for under $100, NVMEs under $120 for BF2023. Sata3 drives will eventually sibstitute spinning hard drives.

The eventually will be a while because m.2 format is physically limited expansion, motherboards even high end only have about 3 m.2, but have 6+ sata easy. New threadripper 7000 cpus will support up to 32 sata channels straight to cpu.

sata 2/3 is interface standards, ssd vs spinning is storage 'technology'. there are sata3 'spinning' drives. so sata3 physically cannot replace hdd or ssd. though SSDs drives probably will eventually replace HDDs

You can can use an adapter card to install 4 NVMe drives per x16 slot.

Just curious... is this a better deal than MX500 for $46 at amazon? MX-500 has TLC, DRAM, 5 year warranty etc.. so, I thought paying a little more is better ?

I want to buy one TB of reliable storage (known brand), I can wait, so, guys, do you think waiting for BF will be better? are you expecting BF to have any SSD deals?

Most systems especially oems are stingy on all such things.

For "reliable" storage I use Samsung or Crucial SSD and WD Black SATA USB 3.1 drives.
For just Game launchers and smaller projects I use these Team Group "cheap" SSD.
The one I just bought will be to run CoinOPS LEGENDS 2 Bit Wars

What is the difference between this TEAM GROUP QX and the T-FORCE VULCAN? Both are TEAM GROUP and have basically the same price.

I mean, not really. You only have so many pcie lanes in your CPU. Unless you've got a thread ripper or xenon or something.

For example, in most systems, to use that expansion card you have to use most the GPU lanes or or disable the GPU and your motherboard has to support x4x4 bifurcation. Some can only do 2 drives in the x16 slot and some can only do 1. Most motherboards have have fine print saying what the second x16 4.0 slot is capable of and it can vary from full operation to pcie 3.0 x4 to fully disabled if all the m.2 ssd slots and a GPU are being used and anything in between.

So, it's an intriguing option, but much more complicated than just having an open x16 4.0 slot for the adapter.
