Just a note for anyone unfamiliar with Caseta: this version is for the 250 watt dimmer and is probably overkill for most home applications. The 150 watt version is less expensive (still pricy). It took me a while to figure out why folks thought this was a deal, when the normal price for the 150 watt version is less than this.
These are hard wired into the wall. So if the cloud goes down you can still use them as regular light switches with all their typical features.

As for the cloud... Well initial setup requires internet, but after that it should work as long as the hub is working. Overall anything voice controlled etc. is gonna require the internet unless you want to spend a lot of time setting up custom stuff.

In general switch control is instant. Voice/app which does require internet (unless maybe you use their app) requires internet which will always lead to lag.

IMO they are far more reliable than the philips hue lights which is the next best reliable smart home lightbulb product in my experience.

Also... these and philips hue have been around long enough I'm reasonably confident they will continue to be supported they both are made by a well respected established company with a decent history of supporting things. I specifically have limited my smart devices to those since they seem the most likely to get continued support. They serve a different purpose... philips hue for when I want color and/or individual bulb control not tied to a circuit. Lutron for white lights and ones I want to ensure stay fully reliable with their hardwiring manual control for safety such as entry way lights.

If you are using the logic of they have only been around 3-4 years very few tech products except iphones would make sense to buy. Which if that is your belief ok... but I am doubtful with that criteria that you will ever purchase anything.
The Diva dimmers are much prettier and easier to use than this older style.

In for one of the motion sensor switches though, been meaning to get something like that for our laundry room.

LondonBenji above tells me the ELV dimmer is better. would this have fixed the issue without having to get the adapter?

Most likely. Regular require 25 watts I believe, so if less than that it should.

Your kitchen LEDs are probably non-dimmable.
Thanks. I left off a key piece of information. When we bought the home there was a dimmer switch installed and it worked fine, but it didn't have smart capabilities. So the lights definitely can dim successfully but for some reason the wi-fi enabled dimmers don't work with it.

Agree with others here, this is likely an LED problem than the dimmer problem. Not sure how fancy your LED lights are, but if they are normal 4" - 6" downlights, they are very easy to switch out and not that expensive. Most LED nowadays that says Dimmable are usually fine. But to be sure, you can use this tool from Lutron: https://www.lutron.com/en-US/Page...ility.aspx

For more context, you can see my comment on this deal.
I just posted this comment. I don't get why one dimmer works and another doesn't...

There is the casetta pro switches that allow you to use existing hardwired 3-way switches. Also the casetta on/off switches work with 3-way switches.

+1. The Pro line is great solution for true 3-way functionality without using remotes. The product is the PD-10NXD. You can also save a bit of money and keep an existing 3 way toggle switch (with use of a jumper) and it allows smart control and typical toggle function on the second switch. It loses the instant off of a typical toggle switch as it dims to off but otherwise works like a typical toggle switch.

Also, pretty sure that any Caseta switch with a blue wire will work this way too in 3-way applications like the non-Pro PD 6ANS.

Ah just saw your new comment. Even for line-voltage dimming (ie. replacing a switch with a dimmer), there are many different types of dimming technologies. Even just as basic as Forward Phase vs. Reverse Phase dimming [erp-power.com]. ELV dimmers like this deal is reverse phase, which is more expensive to build technology wise, but generally more compatible with more LED. There are likely other electronic components that deals with minimum load, which is important for LED fixtures that is low wattage and fundamentally an electronic device. And finally.....there are no standards for how LEDs are built, so the compatibility matrix is a huge mess. Sucks for us consumers.

Although I haven't tried Lutron smart home accessories yet, my experience with other smart home devices is not so great, smart-home standards are still in their infancy and they have changed every 3-4 years in the past decade. 90% of the devices communicate with the cloud, and are useless when your wifi is down. Plus theres always a delay for the actions to take effect. This might be different for lutron devices perhaps their hub works locally? Not too sure, but one thing I have heard every youtube review say is Lutron devices are very reliable. May be that's why they always have been very expensive. I personally don't want to invest too much in a system yet because I feel the standards are still evolving. But this might be a good deal for someone who has already started investing in Lutron already.

Lutron is the exception. Their build quality and network quality is far superior than your run of the mill smart switch.

These are confirmed to work for me for loads of 2+ LEDs on a circuit. The flickering is caused by low voltages.

Alexa, apple, lutron app all work really well.

Dimming through voltage is outdated. Lutron and all modern ones maintain 120V, and control the brightness by clipping out large parts of each cycle of the sine wave. So at full brightness, the switch is allowing the full wave through, while 10% means it allows the sine wave to START to build, and then clamps back down to zero very quickly. 50% means it builds to the top of the wave, and then shuts back to zero instantly instead of the normal, gradual curve back down. (Or the reverse: leave it off until halfway through, then open it at the peak and let it fall back to zero naturally. Reverse vs forward phase dimming.)

Old-style and cheap LED bulbs don't like this PWM-esque dimming, because the electronics weren't built to toggle on and off twice in each cycle.

This dimmer requires a neutral wire. Because of that, you'll get superior dimming performance. The non neutral wire version flickers low wattage LED fixtures.

I ripped these out in exchange for Lutron RadioRA3 (also uses neutral so same thing applies). Those run about $150-$200 each howeverz

Isn't ORVIBO better in price and features compared to this?

If you actually know you want these and what they do, just use eBay. eBay is always the cheapest for these switches (my whole house is done with Caseta switches over the last year).

Is there a brand/line that has a fantastic well thought out Fast UI on iOS, and works with Siri to look into?

Look at Kasa switches. They're made by TP-Link, so it's a networking equipment manufacturer in the business of making light switches. As opposed to a light switch company in the business of developing smart home networking products, e. g. Lutron.

Which motion switch are you referring to? Not seeing that option in OP.

Looks like the mods removed the link to the motion sensor when they moved this to the FP - here it is(note that the motion sensor is not "smart" in the sense that it cannot be linked to the Smart Bridge):

I can't seem to find a dimmer switch that works with Alexa that also works with the built-in LED lights in my kitchen (which I cannot change out the bulbs for). The ones I have tried cause flickering when they aren't at 100% brightness. Does anyone know if this makes premium switch will work?
Did you look at kasa?
Or your built-in lights may be non-dimmable, and then tough luck....

Thanks. I was hoping there was a smart motion Lutron switch combo thing I had missed.
