If this is your first time using Brother laser, make sure you know that it's actually not laser but LED. Canon and HP use the real laser. The difference is when you have to print a high dpi photo on a flyer or brochure. Brother laser LED will not be able to print in High Detail like what Canon or HP laser can do. I learned this from personal experience.
In 4 1. My 4 year old Brothel, I mean Brother, keeps crapping out. People talk about cheap EZ Print ink for Brotherls, the problem is, this thing eats ink + is always malfunctioning. I'm ready for real laser.
I have Epson ET 3850. Printer head clogs if we do not use it for multiple days. Will this happen with Laser printers too? Can someone confirm? Epson printer somehow not printing the photos on photo paper - Ink is all over the place on the photo paper once it comes out of printer. Can we take the prints of images with this laser printer without any issues?

Laser printers do not use liquid ink, so no print heads to clog. Toner is kind of like dry dust, which gets placed on the paper in a shape/letter and heated to melt into place/shape. (This is a simple explanation)
It can easily print images, but not on photo paper.
I'm really on the fence. Money is tight and our 15 yo inkjet works perfectly (surprising, especially after having sat for years a few years ago!) Black + color cartridges are no longer made and reman is $40 for the combo. We did just replace the cartridge, so we have plenty of time to figure out what to get.
We're definitely going to go laser next, but really want duplex printing to save on paper.
I'm on the fence also and dont NEED a replacement so I will wait to see whats available closer to black friday/cyber monday
It would be important to mention that is for a set. I know that seems obvious sometimes, but some people might think it is for a single cartridge.
That's correct, I have this one for several years and it runs great. I am still using the original cartridge and the black one almost runs out now, the genuine one from Amazon is like $65 last time I checked

I won't buy another Canon printer on principle after the scanner on the last one wouldn't work just because I was out of ink and there was no way to fix it.

MFC-L8895CDW, is that real laser? How do i know which brother printer has real laser?
They offer both laser and LED. It depends on the model, but Brother is pretty upfront about which are laser and which are LED. They can't control if resellers list things inappropriately.
They do use the phrase "laser quality" in places on products where they use LEDs though, so that may throw some people off.
From what I can tell all the color printers say LED/Laser. I don't see any laser only.
Nevermind, I was only looking at home use, guess you need business use to see ones that only say laser.

I have a xerox work center 6515 laser color printer. The printer I got cheap for nearly half off. The toner sets are super cheap, like $33. What's not cheap is the ink recovery drums.. I think the cheapest single drum is $100. And a full set (of 4) ranges from $377 to $500. I don't print often, and I felt cheated cause they brag about "up to 25,000 pages!" for each drum.
