Ram is so cheap.
We made it! Nvidia's x70 series cards with i7/R7 CPUs back at $1.2k mark. Dear 2018 prices, we missed you.
I purchased the i7 variation with 1TB SSD for $1,283.74 before tax. I was able to apply both promo codes on top of the student discount.

Incidentally, I don't know if anyone here works at a place that uses ADP for their HR portal, but I got this down to $1,194 before tax with my LifeMart discount. $1,244 after tax.

Glad some people are mentioning this. 600w-650w is the recommended spec for the 4070 and this includes a 500w. The PC might run fine with a 500W but there's a serious spec mismatch in this build.

For what it's worth, my PC has a graphics card (3070 ti) and a processor (12700k) that both use more power than this build (on paper). I am unable to make the computer (not including monitor) use more than ~420 watts in any game or benchmark I have, although I suppose it could spike higher for very short intervals that don't show up on my power meter (computer tower is plugged directly into meter). I also don't overclock.

Nevermind 500W which is a little bit too little for me.

A 500w power supply with an 80% efficiency only produces 400 watts. So you basically just proved that it's not enough power.

No I didn't. Lenovo makes literally millions of computers, they know what they're doing. I was also comparing my relatively power hungry computer to this one. This processor uses about half the power of mine, and has a more efficient graphics card too.

Get it if you are in need of a PC. New COD MW III is around the corner isn't it? Smilie You shouldn't have a problem gaming COD and D4 with the 7700 and 4070. But realize that the 500w unit is a deal breaker along with slow/low capacity memory along with light storage. I mean, 1TB NVMEs are $35. If you do get one, I'd spend $100 to upgrade RAM to 2x16GB 6000 CL30 but not sure if the motherboard will let you clock higher(AMD EXPO) than 5200mhz. IMO, you can build something nice with this budget that's not hamstrung on memory, storage and power supply. In fact, a brand new R7 7700 can be had for $235 shipped and grab a AMD GPU, 7800XT is the value mid-high GPU, since it performs better in COD.

Ideally you want some headroom and it's not recommended to use over 80% of the rated PSU power. But regardless, this 500W PSU is below the recommended spec for the GPU, simple as that. It might run fine but if you plan to upgrade to a beefier CPU or GPU, a 500W is likely not going to cut it, or it's going to cut it very close with little headroom.

Yeah they do know what they're doing: selling a crappy below spec PSU to cut corners because most people won't look for the PSU wattage.

I wouldn't recommend dropping $1200 on a pre-build with inadequate specs but to each their own.
