Cooper's story is the real tragedy in Twin Peaks.

Mmm, coffee. Also, is this worth seeing? Our TV hours are limited to less than the number of hours of everything we've never gotten around to. It was probably 2017 when we watched the original series on Netflix during the winter.

This is just season 3, right?

If you haven't seen this before and are thinking about getting into Twin Peaks:
1) Season 3 is not going to make a ton of sense without having seen seasons 1 and 2
2) Don't expect things to ever really make a lot of sense. I don't have the exact quote but I think Lynch said something like "People don't expect real life to make any sense, I don't understand why they would expect fiction to make sense".

didn't like the sequel series myself. Unimaginative, it's like Lynch didn't even try hard at all. has far less quirky humor and characters, bad acting & is mostly about violence against women, Cooper as a serial killer and lots of gore. if you like it though, go for it.

Not great. Lynch's writing was charming in the early 90's, now it's just obnoxious. Imagine the first seasons, but an old, tired, depressing cast. Then, instead of goofy and quirky it's just weird and drawn out - only for the sake of being weird and drawn out. He either tried too hard or not hard enough, but this is far from home.

I haven't seen this since it came out but it was definitely darker than the original. I guess that's because it was released to Showtime in 2017 vs ABC in 1990. My take was that Lynch was really attempting to articulate the metaphysical backdrop of Twin Peaks in this installment. You see the entrance of a terrible evil into the world with the detonation of the atomic bomb and the contrast of the two Coopers (which I never fully understood): one being mute and apparently amnesic most of the episodes and the other being a demonic figure. I'm guessing this speaks to the very light way in which beneficent spiritual energies are active in the world vs the very heavy handed and brutal way that malignant ones are. It seems like Lynch may have mined many of these ideas from sources like Theosophy, Anthroposophy, and the Western Esoteric Tradition. That's apparent even in the first two seasons, though generally less articulated. If you watch these for the spiritual insights there's a lot to take in. It's like Lynch did his level best to take spiritual truths and express them in a way that may make them more accessible.

kyle is listed as playing the roles of 1) dale cooper 2) dougie jones 3) richard 4) cooper's tulpa 5) cooper's evil doppelgänger (from season 1/2)

but the whole richard & linda thing, and remember 430

i've been putting off rewatching it again because i was waiting for wisteria or whatever it'll be called to be released

Such a disappointment. It brought the original's story down in my opinion.
