Can we block staff deals on here? 90% of the time it's them shilling crappy deals or trying to get rid of C stock merchandise for retailers

I'd stay away from these "hiker" style offerings from Nike/Adidas. Both are sneaker companies and trying to eat their share of the pie in the outdoor category.

For real hiking/outdoorsy stuff, stick to Obox/Keen...I have several pairs from both and all are over 3 years old and in good condition. Their water-proofing is also excellent on the gtx line. Merrel used to be good but QC has gone down the toilet as of recently.

And for outdoor trail running, Salomon and Hoka are kings..

I have heard these are no good, with lots of slippage and a very awkward fit throughout the shoe. Worth avoiding.

I agree. Staff shouldn't be allowed to post here as they are selling for a commission here

These are not fun to wear. I had trouble walking around with these due to their awkward fit and the sole being stiff.

Relax. No one is buying these for their Cocodona 250 attempt.
No, but someone who knows nothing about hiking shoes might buy them for trail running and be disappointed.

I've had good results with La Sportiva, Scarpa, ALtra also.

I brought some adidas terrex trail runners before and they have performed pretty well on easy/moderate hiking trails. I think they are good hiking shoes if you can get them on sale.

It's crazy how upvoted this comment is. Nike DOES make great hiking and trail running shoes. Wildhorse and Terra Kiger are both good options. ACG is a fashion line, of course it's not going to be actually good outerwear.

What do you think of the Hoka U Kaha 2 Low GTX? Is it a good hiking shoe?

I also noticed that my thumb down vote didn't count. Pretty disappointing.

You can actually block posters. Not that I should be telling you, since that will likely get removed now that attention is brought to it.

Thanks for this.
I was going to buy a for my middle school son that goes through shoe soles like butter.
But if these things are as slippery as butter, I'd be better off looking for another brand that won't land him in the ER with a fall-related break.

I trail run in Nike Zegamas, Nike Peg Trail 4s, and Nike Juniper Trail 2s. All three of those shoes are great on my runs.
