I got this the last time it was on sale.
For my first thermal camera, I was decently happy. Not blown away.

The non-pro versions don't let you lock/set the scale (color spectrum), so it is constantly changing with each refresh.
so "red" in one photo to the next can mean totally different things

Of note: the android app has a 2.6* rating. It doesn't matter how good the hardware is if the software is garbage.

Answering my own question for others: no, it's not compatible with iPhone 15. Seems like the app sucks for iOS, based on reviews. Gonna pass :-(

I wonder if the USB-C version (that says it's compatible with Android) works with the iPhone 15 (which now uses USB-C)?

Unlikely. This is specifically designed for thermal imaging with a mobile phone, requiring the mobile app to acquire images.

Not as a UVC webcam but there are two other methods to get the image on PC.

For the situation I am in a dark woods at night, can I use it to detect big animals like moose, bear, wolf, etc?

I've used a Seek Thermal for the last 7-8 years. It gets the job done for basic thermal monitoring. Narrow FOV.
Has come handy in spotting water leaks (change in wall temps), Hot spot in wiring/connectors, Circuitry temperature testing, SBC thermal testing, Vehicle brake temps when coming down a mountain road. Even does a party trick where thin clothing becomes see-thru to the thermal cam.
Good piece of kit to have. Have used exclusively on the iOS App, no experience with Android/Type-C though.
