Its a lottery with woot. I ordered one about a year ago for ~$20 and it was pristine with a battery lasting weeks. Others have gotten heavily used kindles with essentially dead batteries (~30 min battery life). I guess these are all the trade ins from the Amazon 20% a new kindle with trade in.

I ordered 2 last time one the battery last less than 30 minutes on one and the other is OK. Will warranty cover the battery issue?

Probably should just buy a new battery and install it. I got a battery for a Kindle Voyage off eBay for $12 with shipping.

Depends on how persistent you are willing to be. If you look at the listing it says lasts weeks not days.

Bought a cheap refurb Kindle earlier this year because I was in the fence on an e-reader. Loved it and upgraded to a new Paperwhite. Huge difference in the screen and battery life.

I bet those kindles live the cirle of life getting traded in -> sent to woot -> sold -> repeat endlessly in a scheme of amazon up selling their newer kindles at a discount but without actually lowering their prices.

One never knows what you will get with a woots deal. The last frontpage deal in Sept featured the 2016 6th gen Oasis for $50. Normally I wouldn't purchase an Oasis as I am happy with my regular paperwhite. But at this price, decided to try it out. When the Oasis arrived discovered that no one carries covers for this old unit. I checked the top of the box and it indicated 6th gen Oasis with a 6 in screen and a leather charging cover (which it obviously didn't have). Then I checked the side of the box and the device information in the unit, and it turns out that they had sent me a 10th gen, 7 in Oasis. Applause

While I am happy with this Oasis, I normally wouldn't purchase a new Oasis as the features aren't that much different than a regular paperwhite. It's also quite a bit larger than it could be due to the paper-turning buttons on the top side. Perhaps I am just happy that they sent me the wrong unit.

When I go to the Amazon Asurion page and type in kindle at the search box it cannot find anything. Anyway sold out.
