There's two things… Microsoft LIVE Gold membership (which is now part of their Gamepass rental service), and then Resident Evil has released "Gold Edition" that includes DLCs and bonuses (basically, Game of the Year edition without being pretentious enough to claim their game was rated the best game).

Resident Evil 8 Village builds off the characters and story events introduced in RE7. I do think that you could jump straight into the newest resident evil, and not have trouble following along with what's going on, and feel plenty motivated to play the game, however, if you like, knowing backstory on things, it's kind of nice that you only have to go back one game to Basically know everything that's going on.

The classic resident evil games are about a pharmaceutical company-made virus that creates "bio weapons" (basically zombies and mutations), and offer a gameplay about mystery and having enough inventory supplies to get through. and those old games, there's often not enough ammo or fast gunplay to kill all enemies, and it's better to run by and evade. They have great replay value too! Prominent landmarks in gaming history. Resident Evil 4 is kind of a reboot, with parasites and new enemies (Illuminati) only loosely connected to the originals.

I think 7 & 8 are great games, a great way to see if you like these games. And if you want more, you can feast! Itchy, but tasty!
Gold is $19.99 on xbox marketplace for anyone interested in game + dlc.
Damn, that's super cheap. It is a 2 year old game. I bought the Gold Version when it came out and still have yet to find the time to beat it. My kids are scared so can't play during daylight hours.

Visuals and gameplay has been top notch. Play with headphones or good surround sound will give you the spooks for sure.

I'm looking forward to it! First RE I ever played was RE7 on PSVR, it was a landmark experience for me! I went back and played the original with a PlayStation Classic, RE 4 on PC, RE6 with a friend, and I'm looking forward to having time to play RE2 remake soon!

Gold is $20. Is it worth the extra $10?
