Discussed when it was $75 for Rolling Stones version: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/16733267 - I have the first Crossfade and after a year or so one of the ear pads broke. $20 to replace the set. Quality on this 2nd version seems to be even lower. The new ones now under Roland ownership seem like they are back on track, but no reason for me to upgrade.

I had the first Crossfade Wireless. Looks and sounded great, but the left side had a habit of dying out unless I tapped it a few times, even after sending it in for repair under warranty. Now it's completely dead, so I'm a little wary of their headphones now.

Didn't work for 6 months and I slacked invoking the warranty and eventually lost the money.

my old vmodas were ungodly uncomfortable, ears hurt, top of head hurt from the metal headband, do not recommend. the earpads also disintegrated pretty fast, stay away from this brand.

If you have a big head like me skip these. There's a lot of "clamp" to them, and they're especially awful if you've got glasses on your giant head. I even used the shoe box method to try and stretch them out, but it didn't help.

Sound is great, but there are so many great headphones out there of comparable quality and price that even at this price it doesn't make a lot of sense.

I've never seen a pair of vmodas hold up properly. When they start falling apart, they really start looking ugly

I bought Crossfade LP or something long time back. Their sound was terrible. Might have used them for like less than 50 hours or less in the past 11 years. Has their products' sound quality improved?

I bought the original Crossfade but returned it after 4 weeks as couldn't wear them for more than 10 min because of the enormous clamping force. As for the sound: the base is GREAT- tight and punchy, the highs are pronounced but not harsh, however, the mids are almost absent. So if you a fan of the V-shaped equalizer you'll like their sound. Otherwise look somewhere else

Wow- there are just so many great headphones out there. Here are a few:

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is the industry standard for studio headphones. I personally found them tight, but know many people that find them perfectly comfortable, and they sound amazing. If you don't own a pair I'd grab these at this price point.
The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (closed back) sounds beautiful and is probably the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.
The Sony MDR-7506 are widely regarded as one of the best studio headphones in the price range. It might not impress anyone, but they've got a hell of a pedigree and have been used in professional studios for decades.
Open-back options include HIFIMAN HE400SE, Sennheiser HD 599, and Philips Fidelio X2HR. Probably not great for DJing, but great headphones, nonetheless.

Any of the above headphones would be excellent, and this is by no means an exhaustive list. Check out some of the reviews at sites like rtings.com and head-fi.org and enjoy!

I own those as well and can confirm. If you like female vocalists they're not what you want. However, they're good/great for other types of music.

I own a ton of headphones, and the Crossfade 2 codec is one of my favorites. It's way more balanced.

Can confirm on the clamping force as well. Took about a year for my big head to break them in but now they're perfect.

Too much V-MODA hate in this post. They make great cans just buy them on sale.

I have original wired Crossfades with the dual driver. They do sound amazing. But not the most comfortable. I had to bend them out to loosen the clamping force. Also had to get the bigger pads. I never used them that much so I can't say much for longevity. Though after 5 years of occasional use, they're still pristine. Maybe quality went down.

Regarding the print on the side, those panels are removable and you can easily spray them with some matte black if you prefer.
