Have both. The XM5 has better noise cancellation on planes. Considerable difference IMO. Bose are more comfortable and have better clarity. XM5 has better bass.

I bought them for $200 Black Friday 2022. I'd recommend them.
They sound great, the noise cancelling is very good, but not quite as good as my Sony XM4's. If you're putting away silverware or clank a glass, the Bose attempts to compensate and winds up sending a loud counter clank.
However, I cannot recommend any Sony's. The XM4 earbuds had the dead battery issue and my XM4 headphones have the random ear piercing squeal with ANC. Their quality control and reliability are not worth the risk.

I think I paid 200 for these at Costco last year? I'm no audiophile, but they're easily the best pair of headphones I have. Super recommend.

How did these compare to the Beats Studio pro for the same price?

Been looking at anc headphones for a while now. This seems like a good deal, but has anyone compared the qc45 vs the soundcore space q45? They are essentially the same price with this deal.

I had bought it last year for work mostly Teams calls. I used it with Win10 OS. I had really hard time with this headphone. I had to disconnect and reconnect for every time for a new call. It used to cut the voice for every specific interval I.e 75 seconds. Same behavior with iPhone. I had done factory reset multiple times to resolve the issue but it did not help. I had to return it.
I have yet to find good noise canceling cans that can handle a Bluetooth phone call really well AND do music like a champ.

Dang it, ended up buying refurbs for $159 earlier this week, extra $20 for brand new and costco return policy this seems better deal…
Return them. That's what I'm planning to do. $20 more for brand new and Costco 2 year return policy is far better. Just have to wait about a month.

Sony Xm4 is still the best for gym rats, walkers and travelers.

I would keep the refurb with the hard shell case. There is nothing wrong with the refurbished if you got them for less money and with a better case. I have 2 pairs of refurbished and 1 new from the July deal and besides the packaging I couldn't tell a difference. They all work great and the ear cushions will have to be replaced at some time in the future anyway no matter if rerfurb or new.

If you got refurbished for $160 I would keep them and not buy more expensive new ones with a less sturdy case.

But these are my 2 cents only.
I had bought 5 of the refurbished QC35II when they went on sale and then on an even better sale a few years ago. Never had any issues with them, or thought they were inferior to brand new ones, or one could have distinguished them from brand new ones. I never cared about the boxes, I throw them in backpacks and never broke one. After years I started replacing cushions with aftermarket ones that look great and cost almost nothing.
I just took my refurbished QC45 out of the box and it looks new. It can confirm it boosts the higher frequencies, but I'm not yet convinced that this is a bad thing.

Having said all that, my point is, I would not go through the hassle of returning the refurbished ones, if there is nothing wrong with them. There is also a chance that there is something wrong with the new ones. Plus, all this overhead ultimately gets paid from somewhere…

This or the Sony wh-1000xm5, which is also going on sale?
Honestly if you enjoy nice clear sounds with low bass. This is good. If you want better bass. Get something else. I bought bose qc45, soundcore and Sony. I even tried earbuds. I realize out of all, the best one for me are the soundcore liberty 3 pros. I'm unsure of sony mx5 but soundcore wins for me. The ear buds that is.

I think the qc45 sounds better in terms of clear sounds. The q45 have more low end but with some EQing they do sound great.

Out of the box. Qc45 sound better. I tried tweaking the bass more for the qc45 but it just doesn't give that nice bass tone. It still sounds light to me.
