For picture optimization I used this as baseline, it's the Q650G (better version of this TV) and changed a few things as necessary from there. (https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...d/settings)

For performance improvement, i first installed Projectivity Launcher from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/app...rojengmenu), you can also install FLauncher from the play store and see which one you like better (https://play.google.com/store/app....flauncher). Both of these are open source, ad-free and allow you to customize the home screen. You aren't constantly bombarded with promos from Google.

Once you are happy with either of the above launchers you can connect via adb to your TV and run the commands from this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidT...hromecast/). This disables the primary google home launcher and lets you launch one of the ad free ones from the ones I linked above when you press the home button.

Next I installed tvQuickActionsPro (https://play.google.com/store/app...ickactions) this lets you remap buttons of popular streaming apps that you can uninstall/disable via adb. One example is disabling YouTube, installing SmartTube from here (https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTube/releases). This is YouTube for android TV but with adblocking and sponsorblock in built and remapped the YouTube button on the TV to SmartTube.

I also uninstalled most of the extra streaming services to remap their buttons, prevent them from using system resources and disabled these apps which I found to be bloat but you can keep let them be on in the background if you want. This disables alexa, google assistant.

Hope this helps!
Compared to the '22 models looks like:

6 series > Q750G > 5 series > Q650G > 4 series > S450G

So almost directly in between the old 4 and 5 series TCL TVs if it really is the exact same specs as the Q6...but I dunno about that. Someone on AVS said it had a lower max brightness compared to the Q6 when comparing them.
i paid $150 for the 50 inch. SO 65 inch should be $250 to be a great deal. This is meh !

Very few TVs with middle stands exist anymore. If you want one you need to buy a stand separately. You can get a height adjustable swivel stand for $40. Personally I went cheap and got this stand [amazon.com] for $20. It actually works well because the cable box sits in between the TV legs, but they're still centrally-located enough that my TV can fit on a small piece of furniture.

Or this one

Looking for the best bang for your buck 65" for my PS5. The LG C series is like $1200. Anything remotely comparable from the cheaper brands?

Someone on these forums once made mention that TCL was going to go back and forth between Roku and Google OS' every year. I'd rather wait for a Roku model than jump on this with Google if that's the case.

This is meh if it was a regular 65" TV, but this is the QLED version
Nah $250 for regular 65ins are years old deals. There's no incentive to buy new 4k tvs at that price without QLED or other features (120hz, local dimming) at this point.

I got it for 150 and the colors are great. It's just not bright without local dimming.

Anyone know if Google tv os has gotten any better? I dealt with a Hisense tv with google once and the lag was awful. I remeber reading that it wasn't the tv but the Google is itself. That was 2 years ago so just wondering if it's improved.
I keep reading this but I only imagine it's on a lower end Hisense, my u8g runs great just awaiting the potential memory failure I keep reading about

I use an apple tv set with my TCL Google tv and my TCL Roku tv. On the Google tv I cannot turn the TV off when I turn off the apple tv set but I can on the Roku. Anyone else have this issue? It keeps me from jumping on Google tv deals

That's what I'm saying. This one does have QLED.

I like tcl but I don't like 60hz. I think I got a 43" 4k 120z for less than this just regular price 3 years ago at any big box store… I think this is special because of qled but it's an immediate no for me

Looks like a direct competitor to Hisense A65K. Not sure what the difference is between this and the Q6 (which RTing reviewed).

Nice, got in with the Best buy drop as well. Bought $160 of best buy gift cards from Amazon using 1 AMEX point for $79.99. So the 50 inch TV came for ~$85.

Extremely happy with the performance after debloating the Google OS and changing the launcher. Most the buttons can also be remapped to launch different apps if you want.

It's definitely not a primary tv, mine sits in the garage as a DIY video tutorial/Home Gym TV. It's pretty good for that but not for UHD movies/TVs.

I got during the $150 deal too. Only thing I don't like is that- at night, even after setting brightness to 0, it goes full bright as soon as I start opening apps like YouTube or Disney+ to watch video.
