I have one. It's neat. Took it camping, and folks were able to charge their stuff and pump up mattresses (that used a regular 120v pump). I find it dubious they include a 2Ah. This sucker should just come with the biggest battery they make.

Side-note, just looked up what the biggest battery even is. Apparently it's a 12Ah! Woah, I need me one of those. What an absolute unit [homedepot.com]

Depends what is a deal in your opinion, but I would wait if you can closer to BF for any of the 6.0 Ah battery deals because currently they are lukewarm at best.

I believed it is modified sine wave, might not working on some appliance which required pure sine wave.

Yeah I have one and the power is pretty dirty. Great for random use and camping etc but wouldn't run anything sensitive on it for an extended period of time.
Again- it's designed for random / remote / camping situations and definitely fits the need there.

I bought one for $90 a week ago. In my opinion it drains the battery fast. It does not have auto shut down even if you do not use it. So you need to make sure you turn off this unit, if not using. I like the convinience of using multiple batteries, but it drains fast.
On the side note will they allow this in carry on?

Oh, I def wouldn't try to power anything expensive or long-term with this. It should be fine for charging a phone or a laptop. Their bricks are pretty robust, and I imagine the built-in AC to DC conversion will be OK. There's a reason this is $80 and not the price of a proper inverter in the hundreds or thousands

You said twice in your comment that "it drains the battery fast", yet that really means nothing if you don't say what you were powering and the watts it was pulling.
Sure any inverter will 'drain fast' if you have a higher load, yet with a milliamps load it will run for a week or more.
I powered a small fan for all day long with this unit on a 4ah battery and it still had power when I turned it off.

What battery were you using? That matters WAY more than anything else. And how much time did you get out of it?

I haven't done any inverter research, but I assume once you remove the battery to swap it, you lose power (i.e. no internal caps or other small battery to keep up power levels for a few seconds, correct?)

When and/or which mfg is going to realize that a "dual battery" inverter has great value? The ability to swap batteries on the fly seems like a no brainier. Most who buy this would have at LEAST two batteries laying around (especially since this kit comes with one). IMO, it would be great for those with a handful of batteries already.

I suppose the targeted applications for this may not require continuous power. That said, I can think of a few applications that could be useful. I.e. not wanting a UBS (since you own this thing for additional applications anyway) and having a cable modem/router that needed to be powered continuously to keep a laptop connected during a power outage. (And, yes, most people could use the phone as a hotspot, but many don't have that feature).
