As a weekend warrior / DIYer who does the occasional small project on the house + helping my wife with her crazy ideas, I would definitely recommend waiting / looking for packout drawers instead of the toolboxes. Way higher retrieve-ability.
Packouts are still way overkill for any homeowner but that doesn't stop me from having a set.

$218.94 Total after $90 savings from SubTotal of $308.94 vs $219 for 3-Piece System [homedepot.com], before taxes. But it really all depends on what your storage space is like. What you are driving. They weigh a fair bit on their own. And a Pack-out stack takes up a fair bit of space. Instead, you could have two three extended drawers under the garage / bed space or under a raised vehicle floor, keeps all the extra weight down low, easy to retrieve, no fussing with boxes and their shapes.
For light parts one could have an aluminum roof bin or two. Or ski box.
