Every pair of Hoka's I have picked up is stiffer than a board and are quite heavy. Can't imagine these as "running shoes".

They ruined the Gaviota with version 3 onwards. If you liked the v2 you might be disappointed.

Was still able to get a pair shipped but only a few remaining. Due to a foot issue, hokas are the only shoes I can wear all day long.

I bought this same Gaviota 4 recently and returned them because they are narrow. If you have slightest of wide feet or need a little breathing room, go for wide size only. These fit narrow.

My 5K PR was done on a pair of the Gav v2. For a max stability shoe it had a nice roll.and didn't feel too clunky. The v1 was my favorite of the gaviotas because the upper was more secure. By contrast, he v3 feels like a clunky crappy block of foam. It's a very slow shoe that feels incredibly heavy. The stack is higher and feels less stable around turns.

I would advise you to try a pair of Mach 5 and ween yourself off of stability shoes. That's what I did. The Mach is very stable for a neutral shoe. The midsole resists over-flexing and twisting.
