Hey all,

Thought this was a solid deal. Most companies do very little cheap phones for upgrades or require a good phone to trade in and you still pay $400+. If you are an Xfinity mobile customer this is a pretty warm deal to grab a pretty well-spec'd phone (Snap dragon 7450, 8GB of RAM w/ a 64MP camera) without breaking the bank. I'm sure other companies are doing close to the same thing, so look to see if others have an upgrade deal as well.

I just got this delivered last week and it's a pretty good phone for mid/high end. Flip feels nice, missed all the moto gestures you can do with their phones and it feels/performs nice. Reviews give it a good score as well.

You can get a GV number by using a gmail id that currently doesn't have a GV number associated with it; you would also need to verify using a regular cell number (If you've already used your number to verify for GV earlier, that may not work).

Once you've verified : you can either forward calls to a cell number (can be the same as a verification number, or other); or just use it as is over web / GV app. You don't need a separate phone at this point of time

WHEN you are ready to port : you need to pay $3 to unlock the number and get the port details (account number / pin). You'd provide that to XM when you add the line.
Currently XM appears to have the Moto G Stylus 5G as a "free after bill credits" phone when you add a line. I haven't seen the "BYOD prepaid card" offer for at least 3 months plus now; IDK if they will bring it back or when.

Current offers are also $500 off Samsung phones or 400 off Pixel 8 pro.
Thanks again for the informative reply. I think we may have gotten my daughter's current XM from Google voice but it was a few years back. So if I do grab a GV# and try to verify it with a regular cell number and it comes back we previously used that cell # to verify I assume we can just use a different cell # to verify? I'm not sure what cell # we would've used when we verified my daughther's GV# originally.

Also I do see they have an offer on a free Moto G Stylus now via bill credits. Not sure if I should go that route or give it some time and see if they might do a BYOD prepaid card offer of some sort. Not sure what device I could bring over though for that promotion. I do still have my original LG Charge I initially received for first signing up for XM. I wonder if I could use that again, lol...

Yep - if one number doesn't work, try another. In fact : you can try to use your daughter's current XM number (that you think you got from GV) - since that is unlikely to have been used for GV verification. IDK if that would work, would be good to validate.

As mentioned - I hven't seen the BYOD prepaid offer for some time now.

Re the LG X Charge : I tried to use those for BYOD a couple of years ago - not allowed. At that time it allowed only iPhone / Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel; Old LG and Motorola phones (even those from XM) were not allowed. I do see the BYOD checker now uses IMEI; may allow more options now

Again thanks for all the info. I did notice that the current XM discount promos including the free phone one look like they expire on 11/15 so maybe some better offers are coming after that for Black Friday? Hard to say I guess but we'll see. I'll have to look around the house and see if we have any other phone's laying around I can use. I can always try the BYOD checker and see what it says.

I guess there's no harm in locking down a GV# now and I'd like to get that 5th XM line activated and running by the end of the year.
