Many people don't mind VA panels. I'm planning to buy a 34inch one myself. (I'm currently using an old HP 2511x, which is a TN panel. It's excellent, but want to upgrade to higher resolution.)

Especially for gaming I would think people would prefer the higher contrast?

On another note many credit cards have 2.5-6% (quicksilver) cash back on lg.com for all categories

VA panels are notorious for black shifting, which looks awful in high movement
