Onyx 4 has a higher build quality with more speakers / passive radiators and at a higher manufacturing cost compared to the 6, however the 6 has a bit more battery life and newer Bluetooth version. I personally get around 8 hours or so with my Onyx 4s. If you can score the 4 for $80 that's the deal to get but this one is stellar as well.
Good price. Im pretty sure it was never $480. I paid $105 last Christmas.
Its solid. Great battery life… a little too much bass and cant adjust. The louder it is, the better it sounds
Onyx 7 was for 100$

I have this speaker, it's great. Get two and you can link them together for surround sound. Plug the speaker in to power and you have incredible base and sound that can run a party. I've used it for camping music festivals and it's great.

This thing has way more booming bass than it should. Incredible clear sound and gets very loud for its size. No idea how they got it pumping that much bass in such a small unit. It is heavy and solid too. Very well made. I have 3 boomboxes and use this one the most.

I'm pretty sure you are incorrect on the bass adjustment. Hold down the "Bluetooth" and Volume Down" button for about 15 seconds. It will enter reduced bass mode.

See me comment above about turning the bass down and then you can give a fair review whether it has too much bass.

The main difference is that the 4 is a stereo speaker. The 6 is a mono speaker.
The 4 has dual 75mm woofers. The 6 has a single 120mm woofer. The single woofer has much more surface area than the two small ones.
XG500 is way larger with a way bigger battery. The Onyx has a single 120mm woofer. The XG500 has two 110mm woofers.
