FYI I decided to return my ultra 2 watch. Best Buy charged me 32$ for "free" Apple music they automatically added. Just because they emailed me the code. It was ordered as Best Buy "drop".

since I have Best Buy credit card, for me the total price difference between the Ultra 1 and Ultra 2 is $95. You get 10% discount on Apple Watch 9 series with a BB card.

Broke it down for you. Ultimately some people turn other consumers giving advice as an attack but the Ultra1 will quickly begin to show its age. Meanwhile the Ultra2 will see $700 pricing here very soon and for the extra $70 its worth it for longevity.

brighter screen outside, hand gesture control coming this week, Apple will probably screw you with watch performance sooner with the older chip, new chip more energy efficient, I forgot the other updates but if you can get the Ultra 1 for even cheaper than this price and you are a basic user, than sure the ultra 1 is almost just as good probably. The real difference will show itself with the tap update.

I bought the Ultra 2 on day 1 and cant see myself going back to the other watches. I intend to keep this watch until 2030 unless there is some awesome trade in deal. I dont eve like wearing watches but I enjoy the Ultra 2. The biggest difference is actually the Ultra watch vs the other Apple Watches.

lol so with only 2000 nits you couldn't see the screen , never been an issue another gimmick ….gesture control available for a longtime another gimmick (Apple has a great marketing dept) again in real life made no difference it was never a problem

Depends on what you are looking for. The Ultra 2 has the newer processor, longer battery life, on demand Siri processing, brighter screen, and the finger tap gesture. I presume that the newer processor will be supported with updates, etc. longer due to the processor but I keep my watches for a bit longer than most I guess so that kind of thing is important to me. Good luck with whatever you decide and remember, it's just a watch and you can sell/return it if you don't like it.

sometimes there are other reasons to upgrade. I upgraded the 8 because BB offered $235 trade in + anther 10% if you are a total tech member. Then also 10% discount on new watch. Then also 5% back for using BB card. With all these discounts, why not upgrade to new? Also since I have total tech I get Apple care+ included with the watch so if you add all the savings, the upgrade is about free.

actually the new feature I wouldn't go back on is the built in SIRI. its really fast since siri is in the watch now. I never used siri before because of the delays but now I find myself using it often. Because of this I rather pay the $100 extra and have the ultra 2.

I think the main use case for this is if you want to completely leave your phone behind when doing outdoors stuff. You're still reachable since it has a cellular connection and pretty great battery life but you're not glued to your phone.
