Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
So those of you hacking this and picking up in store. Are you returning it right when you pick it up or waiting? It's been awhile since I've done the hack and back then we just ordered the one we didn't want delivered and the other store pickup. Placed the order and cancelled the delivery order.
Just get them delivered to your house and return the tool to a store. Returns are pretty easy; go later at night for a return if you have any anxiety as late shift workers care even less. For me, a return is better than not picking up an online order as I've had my order sit at a store a looong time and not get automatically cancelled; I finally picked up that order and returned it.
Your choice but I'd do shipping. Then it's just one trip to the store for the return.
Your three options are (1) try the return at a different store, (2) return it at this same store at a different time (late in the day, see reply above), or (3) simply return both items.
You buy the $99 battery and add the most expensive "free" tool which is currently the $149 blower or chain saw. Home Depot will prorate both the battery and tool to equal $99. So the battery would be $40 and the tool $60. Then return the tool and you end up with a $40 battery kit.
I ordered both for shipping and just cancelled the tool online. The batteries shipped. About $43 for two batteries is great! No need to visit the store. Another way to do it as well.

I didn't do this deal (as I've done it in the past) but I didn't have an option to cancel just the tool back then on my online order. This is definitely the optimal way to do this deal!
What am I doing wrong? I add both through the HD app and the total in my cart is the full price of both. I tried adding batteries first then blower and vice versa. But showing full price. TIA
Never mind, couldn't do it through app but was able to on a Browser

I tried that and the order never showed up in my recent orders under my account. So I had to text them and the only option was to cancel the whole order.

I have the same issue that the order doesn't show up for a couple of hours. Just have to pick up at the store and cancel the tool when you are picking up at the store.
Update: the order finally show up online after 3 hours placing the order but it will only allow to cancel the whole order and not individual item.

Marketing 101. All these types of deals price in "gaming losses". It's a sliding rate in the marketing model. Worse case might be 60/40, best case 85/15. Regardless, Home Depot knows they will have a certain amount of gaming and the price into the margin on the sale. Anyone claiming "morality" on this should understand that it's a) perfectly legal, b) priced in and allowable under Home Depots corporate policies and c) expected by the corporate marketing team and analysts.
These people preaching morality need to give it a rest. After all, where do you draw the line? Amazon loses a ton of money on returns, is it immoral toengage in a return? One time plastic bags are and expense to the store and hurt our environment. Are you bringing your reusables every time you shop?
Please, the same people preaching morality are generally the biggest hypocrites. Legalistic, self-righteous pigs.

Ain't no more grease guns. This deal and the deal with the high torque impact wrench has sold out all the grease guns 😔. Now I'm gonna apply for the home Depot credit card for an extra $25 off.
