The ph2 issue. I've got snap on (vintage), craftsman (mixed eras) and a bunch of whatever screwdrivers. I guess my main issue is with driver bits but it carries over. I remember a long time ago being able to put a screw on the driver and it would stay put within reason. It was like there was a design standard that tool and hardware manufacturers arrived at and adhered to. At some point, I'm going to posit, when hardware became largely imported, the screws started falling off. They started stripping just from being driven into wood one time. I figured it was because of the cordless tool explosion and that perhaps the capability of the screws was being exceeded. Then screws started snapping. Looking at the wear on my screwdrivers, I have to conclude that screws and their drivers are not made uniformly and no longer mate correctly amongst other things like cheap materials (what's with all the hardware that stays on the floor after you spill a bunch of mixed screws and pick them up with a magnet?
The point? Who knows the real story. Am I looking through rose colored safety goggles at the past or did things change? If they did, how and when and is there anything that keeps the screw on?

BTW, in for one, good post.

Good deal! It used to be the red insulated version of this set came down to $28 when the green ones were still $40. That was a go-to Christmas gift. I'm sure I'll think of someone who still needs a set this year.

Yes, this is a lot of slotted screwdrivers. When you need them you'll be glad to have them. They fit and grip the screw so you don't strip the head. Great for screw down wire terminals.

The laser tip sounds like a gimmick but it works great to grip screws and it doesn't wear off. After years of use and abuse, I've gotten enough use out of the Phillips #2 to justify the cost of the set. You can buy just a PH2 for $15, and a PH1 for $12, but you should just get this set.

I think that's a more appealing item, but rule them all? A big chunk of the fasteners I encounter doing random repairs for the family just aren't accessible enough for a bit driver. Kids' toys in particular often have every external fastener recessed in plastic.

I got this set in 2017 and added 2 more Phillips, a PH3 and a PH0 when they went on sale. They will fit in the rack, just need to drill a hole fore the smaller one.
I know adds to the cost, but I was happy with the set.

Comfort and quality. Those HDX ones will absolutely get the job done, but when you're using them all day it feels very comfortable in the hand. The tips of them are great, they don't wear down like regular screwdrivers, grip well and don't slip and strip screws.

I've had this for years, and love them. The laser engraved tips don't slip. I don't understand the complaints against "mostly slotted", as it also includes a PH1 and PH2, which are the most common Phillips sizes...

I have had these for a number of years and there are superb…have lots of different set from high end to extreme low end and none of them last or they go in the trash for various reasons except this one…they remain my go to

I have been looking at this screwdriver deal for the better part of 15 years on Slickdeals. I always wanted a high end screwdriver set. Pulled the trigger.

Bit drivers are ok until you need to reach inside a box or a narrow and/or deep hole for a screw head.
