amd made the 7xxx naming very confusing... this seems to be the low end ryzen 5 zen 3?

is only hdmi 1.4 which is sorta pathetic even on a value laptop in 2023.

that said, it is "cheap" for a new laptop.. and prob just fine for casual office stuff if you're not going to use an external monitor

dell site says the display is "WVA" .. not TN.. but "better viewing angles" so VA? it's not IPS?
3rd digit is the zen version in 7th gen naming...

This, or the 3520 w/i3 for ~$295 for a college kid who didn't really care about performance, using only for writing assignments, Web browsing, and music major related apps?
It's kind of a toss-up between the two, performance-wise, though the Intel system doesn't have a touch screen if that matters to you.

EDIT: The Intel system also has less storage space but newer/faster Wi-Fi.

Can you send the link and offer details? Thank you
The $50 off $100 dell.com purchase from American Express were from this now expired credit card rewards offer. It's typically one offer per cardholder but I'm guessing the user you quoted applied two of these AMEX reward offers for $100 total back, one from a spouse's card.

Looks like it's dead. But, can anyone offer some help telling me how does this compare to a laptop I got a couple of days ago? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6549066

I know the Dell has double the storage SSD. Would be used for high school student, no gaming.

I would rather get one of the dell refurb with the 8th gen intel cpu. True, this inpiron has better cpu but that's about it.

The refurb dell latitude usually have full support usb-c with DP and DP as well as backlit keys and better built quality and also cheaper

Very small battery for the size of the laptop screen. Expect low battery life.

There's not a lot to differentiate between these cheaper laptops. Attached is one site comparing the i3 CPU in the Lenovo against the Ryzen 5 7530U in this laptop. This Ryzen CPU is better in almost all aspects but it's hard to quantify what that difference means for the use case of a high schooler. It's not like the Lenovo laptop will take 5 seconds to open a new browser window whereas this does it instantaneously. I'm guessing most things (opening a google doc, playing a youtube video, etc.) are probably going to be nearly indistinguishable between the two laptops in a normal use case for your high schooler.

And fwiw, I can still buy this laptop for in store pickup at a number of Best Buy stores around me that has stock.

Appreciate your help! Maybe it is worth changing it for this Dell and getting back the $40 diff. thanks a lot!

IT worker here. I would buy a refurb Latitude 5000 or Precision over an Inspiron any day. They're not well-made.
I strongly disagree. The Dell refurb Latitude and Precisions are at least 5 years old so, while definitely usable, are outdated machines and the new generation processors run circles around them. They are also typically off lease machines that were used heavily in a business environment so even though they have better build quality, who knows how heavily they were abused or how much life is left in them.

These consumer grade Inspiron machines are just fine, especially for this price.

i bought two Dell Lattitudes refurbished, like new, not heavily abused et al. if the battery below 80% they will send another by email request.

both of mine were condition A, but many are happy with condition B. these refurbished are a fraction of the new price and are good for 99% of users. if you need Work Station performance, then look at the Precision line of Dells: again a Fraction of the price of new.

this is what we do at Slick Deals, a refurb dell with a coupon is about as good as it gets, unless money doesn't matter to you.

on top of it being 3rd gen, you have to see if the last number is 0 or 5, to see if its the rdna2 zen3+
