4 Verizon lines - $120 + tax x 24 months = ~ $3,600
Taxes on 4 phones at full price = $200
Lost statement credits for 12 months, $23 x 4 x 12 = ~$1,100
Total cost to own phone (will be unlocked after 60 days) + 2 years of service = $4,900
Cost of comparable service with MVNO - $100 x 24 = $2400
Cost for 4x iphone 14 plus = $4900 - $2400 = $2500, or $625 per phone (including tax).
This isn't the slickest deal after 2 years, except for verizon fios customers who get an extra $5 off each line, making the phones only $487 each including tax.
Here's the same math after 3 years, if you don't upgrade as often.
4 Verizon lines - $120 + tax x 36 months = ~ $5,400
Taxes on 4 phones at full price = $200
Total cost to own phone (will be unlocked after 60 days) + 3 years of service = $5,600
Cost of comparable service with MVNO - $100 x 36 = $3600
You're paying an equivalent $500 per phone including tax today. If you have fios, you're paying $293 per phone.
Depending on your situation, this is going to be a better deal than an unlocked phone to use with an NVMO.
P.S. I'm not sure if $25 unlimited plans including tax exists, Boost has one that's $25+tax, Metro has a shitty 5GB/month plan for $30, etc.
I did the math for NJ. Including all taxes and fees you're looking at $17.58 per line after you subtract the profit from selling the phones. That's honestly not bad but also a long time to be locked into a contract for what seems to be an $8 per line per month savings. Visible is Verizon based for $25 all in.
I believe someone also mentioned phone credits don't start until the second billing cycle so it's actually a 37 month contract, if I'm not mistaken. And if there's an activation fee, that has not been included in my calculation either.
TL, DR: if you're set on staying postpaid, this is a good deal for Verizon. About $8 cheaper per line per month than prepaid if you sell the phones, but not a crazy amount. and the contract is pretty long.

MVNO $25 a month on a low tier network for 2 years, 25 x 24months = $600
4 x iPhone 14 plus for 800 each = 3200
Same $200 tax
Total cost after 2 years is $4000
Each phone is 1000.
I see so many people bringing up MNVO. Let's try to compare apple to apple then
With Verizon you pay 30 a line per month, let's say $35 with tax and fees but you don't pay for the phone
With MNVO you pay $25. Yes that's $10 less a month but you have to pay $800 for the phone.
Your break even point is 800/10 = 80 months. That's over 7 years
You're not paying $800 for the phones though. That math only works if you cancel first month of the plan.
P.s. actually, more importantly your model assumes you don't buy any new phones for the next 7 years. And you started with whatever old phone you have in hand.
