A remake was supposedly being developed but might have been dropped since no news for many months...
For perspective Rage 1 is kind of rough open world FPS, 2008-ish but plays much more modern. Like if Mad Max was made into a FPS remake then they got semi confused and started copying Far Cry 3 halfway through. Oh and all of it was by an indie team and the world wasn't at all open yet the mission structure was. Combat is solid but the vehicle stuff is just driving from point A to point B, you just start ignoring anyone trying to destroy your buggy as it stops being interesting very quickly. Also you really cannot explore the "open" world, no point to it either. But shooting baddies is good so it is worth free or even a few bucks. From my understanding 2 has not strayed too far from 1's mold but adding some superpower abilities.

Mad Max had a plethora of incredibly pointless ? on the map that felt like complete fluff.
Rage 2 character and vehicle progression were better imo.
