doesn't seem to be 20.72 in checkout?

I loaded the $20.72 gift cards onto my account and went to look at my account later and there is now a $0 gift card balance and a long line of entries in my account that say:

October 27, 2023 Balance withheld -$20.72

I then decided to try and load a card I was going to use as a Christmas gift and I get this message:

The gift card has been deactivated.

What the heck is Amazon doing? This is a giant mess. They deactivated all of my cards but haven't refunded my purchase price.

I was told that Amazon is aware of these $25 gift cards not being their full value and they are changing the values to the full $25. It could take up to 48 hours, so don't activate them yet. When the cards ship it will show the card values and serial numbers in your order details. Use the serial number to check the value of the card later.

Were you stuck with the lower balance gcs or could you refund them?

I was told that the way Amazon sells their gift cards is that they fill the card with the amount you pay. So we pay $20.7 in this case, 99% the chance we will get a $20.7 card.

Last time it happened, customer service ended up returning/refunding the purchased price and invalidating the gift cards.

Some were able to get a courtesy credits on the missing amounts.

Can confirm that these are being shipped out with the lower denominations i.e. they are NOT $25. Will have to see how this goes with csr. Bummer though! Not sure how the third party gcs are going to fare.

Yep received it this morning. I just chatted with csr and they refunded the price difference so worth shot if you haven't ordered absurd numbers. I ordered 10.

Thank you! Canceled mine cause i dont have prime so it didnt ship yet. Not worth the hassle for me, plus there is a small risk whenever buying gift cards because they are non refundable if something goes wrong.
