You just think they are zoom lenses because Apple and Samsung lie about it / misuse the term. And tech reviewers parrott the lies because they want to be invited back for the launch even next year. Quite incredible actually.
2 diff applications.
100mm if you are into doing macro photography outdoors and food porn pix indoors.
85mm very sharp for portrait, glam shots, headshots, full body, subject isolation (good bokeh).
The 2.8 is actually not as good quality in reviews. Research it.
Crazy comment. A full frame 30mp and you would rather have your phone. Ridiculous.
How long have you been doing photography ?
The 85mm with f/1.4 is designed to give you a very pleasing soft focus look for portraits.
The 100mm is a macro, which means it can focus closely, and also it has very flat focus, from corner to corner. You usually don't need sharpness in the edges (think of a portrait), but if you are photographing documents, for instance, you want that.
At 100mm, the macro is best outdoors, like if you photograph flowers or insects.

I think my mind was getting mixed up with how the Mfgs use the term zoom.
What I find impressive though are the periscope lenses to get the 10x, and the autofocus and image stabilization systems in these lenses and how small they've gotten them!

Yes order by phone, no code they will ask for the serial number on your old lens, last I heard they limit it to 3 items to upgrade per 12 months. Canon does change their terms from time to time. Refurbished have the same warranty as new just no retail box

Can these two be stacked? Any way to add the canon upgrade discount on top?
I'll now return to my dream state where the answer to both questions is yes.

That makes sense, although I don't think you can also stack the canon upgrade 10% off because orders have to be done over the phone.
