I'm too tired to think this out, so what is the minimal buy-and-get-out with a phone on this?

Can you confirm that the pay off price will be $36? Usually on device payment plans you get a monthly credit and have to pay off the remaining retail balance to cancel. I don't see a monthly credit so I'm guessing this might be different but wanted to double check first.

Why would you pay for 60 days service and activation... instead of 3 days and no activation?

Unlocking happens either way in 60 days.

Usually it's pay off the full phone. If you cancel before the promo verizon will try to charge/bill you for it. I owe them alot because one of my lines was offered a 800 promo for 12months. I lost the phone and had the line suspended. 1month shy they automatically canceled my line due to no use and billed me for the promotion cancelation. I imagine it would be the same here. Someone needs to order and post it actually showing in their account as $36 payoff. Either way to unlock You'll have to pay for 3months of service first. Or like others said perhaps cancel the line and trade in or up? Can someone check what the trade in values on samsung are? That seems like a better deal, but your gambling in 60days time if it will be paid off. I wouldn't trust this deal unless your in the market for a new phone and your planning on using it for a while to be safe. There's far better deals on newer models. You get what you pay for here. Walmart and Verizon gotta be working on something together in the background. Its never this easy.

Trade in values seem around 150 - 200. Could be a good deal if you figure out the loops to jump through.

quite a few things wrong with your post above.
u loosing the phone and getting charged v this deal is totally different.

for this one...the total is $36. the rest is down payment from V.
different than a 800 phone financed over 36 m

ex1 (this deal). 500 phone. 464 as down payment from V/WM. remaining 36 over 36m. $1/m
if u cancel. 36 due immediately.

ex2. (your deal) 800. 0 down from v/WM. 800 remaining over 36m.~22.22/m.
if u cancel. 800 due immediately.

big difference

V policy is to UL in 2m from activation. not 3months

finally, the OP is a seasoned Vet. posted many of these WM/V deals.
very successful. as long as folks know what they are doing. and follow the proper procedure.

Can someone validate my understanding below (for new to VZ):
1. After phone is delivered, activate online. Register to Verizon as a new customer. I need new phone number, pin (the one I used on Walmart.com while buying phone) and zip code
2. Walk-in Verizon store and pay $36 in cash
3. Cancel online via chat or call to cancel.
4. Make sure line is removed from account.

Appreciate help. TIA.

Went into corporate store and when account was pulled was told can't do buyout until 45 days. How to get around it.
Specifically if I don't want to be charged for anything and just return the device.

Seems like too much of a hassle. Just fyi when I went in the store I checked in and he had my account already pulled up.

I had something like that happen with my daughters phone. It was lost halfway through the 36 month period. I just got a used phone, got a new sim from Verizon for the same line (told them the old one was lost) and continued with the line (monthly payment minus the rebate meant I was not paying for the device). Phone is paid off now and I was able to get this deal for that line. Verizon just wants you to keep the line active and paid for the period. They don't care what device you actually use for the number.

I will be the first to admit, I am not 100% sure on all this. However, I think that you should be allowed to pay in-store in cash same day. If not try a different corporate store. If you still get resistance, asked to speak with a manager. From what I remember, some Verizon stores are quite aware of what's going on, and sometimes will make it difficult for people to pay in in the store with the cash the same day or the next day like in this instance, best of luck report back what happens

Tell them you want to pay down. Say you were paying with cash. Let them know that your talked to the representative and they said that the store will be able to take a payment. Don't take no for an answer. Push back firmly, but politely . asked to speak with a manager if needed.
