This is where I stand so far...
Tried two different V stores they were not able to take the $36 pay down amount for the phone. Tried online chat agent as well.

Both store rep and chat rep said the only thing they can do is disconnect the line and I'll be billed amount owed (Phone + Prorated charges for the line) which is showing as $44.12 in my next bill estimate.
Morning when I activated, the next bill estimate was showing lot more than what it is showing now.

I'm not sure if the phone will be unlocked or not, may have to think about selling it as locked to Verizon.
It will be still be unlocked after day 60 of activation even without service. I am inclined to believe you can cancel and the activation fees will also disappear if done by day 3.

How did you pay like for me it was showing can't buyout until 45 days.
Call and tell them you will cancel lf they won't let you pay off. Even if they do cancel your contract is for $36 and that's all you pay plus some small usage + taxes assuming you cancel by day 3.

Thanks for walking me through this again (I've never done one of these online phone purchases before).
--i have not done this myself either.

I went through another purchase using the NEW LINE option.
- skipped the port-in my current phone # and below is what's in my cart.
- my cheapest monthly offer is $40.
--so r u a current V customer? or did u joined V as new customer to get this deal?

So in this scenario, what I need to do after the purchase is:
1) pay of the phone either online or Verizon store, $36.
--from what i have read. must pay with cash at a corportae verizon store

2) chat or call to cancel the new line within 3 days of activation. Remove the monthly ($40 minus 1-3 days of service fee), and activation fee ($35).
--souunds like it

3) take my current SIM and replace it in the A53 and now good to go with my old line.
- is this the process? Thanks.
--not sure, but will take the a53 60 days to unlock. regardless if u have service or not for those 60 days.
You've been busy helping to answer many people's questions. Thanks!

Yes, I'm a current Verizon customer. So I ran both scenarios: new line and upgrade.
- if I upgrade, it's $71 out the door and no running around with cancelations.
- if new line, there is a possibility they might not let me cancel by giving me the run around.....
- what to do, what to do.....

For existing Verizon users, did you use your current active sim card to activate or the one Walmart shipped it with? Does it matter?

I just walked out of Verizon store in Phoenix area after paying off device. I told an associate I wanted pay-off for the device. She sent a code to device for authorization. She asked phone number and asked if I wanted to pay using a card or cash. I said cash. She told total is $36 even. I paid in cash, picked receipt and walked out. I'm planning to request cancellation online later today

Successfully paid-off the device and cancelled the line as well. This is a new account and yes the store rep showed some hesitations accepting the payment for some reason since its just one day since its been activated. And as others suggested in this thread i politely mentioned them that the chat rep had mentioned me that the store can overide the payment via cash. After 2 mins he accepted the payment and its all done now. Came home and called my line as well.

Waiting for the 60 day clock to use it with ATT. Smilie

I have the grandfather New Verizon Unlimited plan. I can have up to 10 lines. I was not able to add lines using Walmart, so I upgraded the lines that I could. Cam out to 6 phones total. One problem was Walmart fraud will cancel orders if you purchase more than 2 with a single payment method. I had to use 3 payment methods for 6 phones.

One other thing, I did not unfreeze my credit and had no issues. Not looking forward to $210 in activation fees, but I can't complain about the price per phone!
I might have to bite the bullet on the activation fee of $35 as well. That will make the phone $71 (?) all said and done without all the payoff phone, canceling line, etc..... Yes??

Just logged into account, was shocked by the $125 bill.
$75/mo plan
$35 activation
Surcharges about $10
Tax and Gov fees about $4
Total $125. That's not even counting the $36 device price
