As a YEARS LONG Boost Mobile customer(13 years)I have to say that the service/coverage , pretty much everything has been fantastic for me. So,I do recommend Boost Mobile.
BUT, being that the actual service is a great deal, $25/month for unlimited Text/talk and 30 GB data,
The extra $35/month for the phone seems a bit high. You can get many phones from them or even elsewhere(that work for boost mobile) for way lower prices. I always buy my phones cash and just pay the $25/month for their plan.
Just wanted to give my "2 cents".
So, if you buy this iPhone 12 with $60/month plan, then cancel the $60 plan.
Next, buy a $25/month plan to insert the SIM card into this iPhone 12.
Will Boost still unlock the phone after 12 month?
I'm a current boost customer ($15 a month plan). Could I buy this phone and $60 plan with a new/burner number, and then switch my current sim card into the phone after I receive it to use with my current number? (I assume it would never unlock in that case?)

Have you checked if you have the upgrade option? Log into your account in a browser (not the app) and check your upgrade options. The iPhone 12 should show as either 149.99 or 629.99. If it says 149.99, you can just order the phone straight up in your current account without having to pay the extra $60, but if not...
What you describe is possible. Just use a throwaway e-mail to sign up for a new line with this phone, and then insert your current sim into the iPhone 12 when you receive it. The total cost would be about $225 depending on your local sales tax. You don't even have to activate the $60 plan, just choose "port my number" (you don't actually have to port, they don't ask for details before checking out- you can even choose a new number if you choose to activate the $60 plan later) when checking out. Also, if you do use that new line, make sure autopay is turned off immediately after activating. You don't want to get hit with another $60 a month later.
Also, as long as you keep your current line active for 12 months from the day you start using the new iPhone 12 and never switch phones during that year, you should be able to unlock, but I can't be sure, though. Set a reminder for one year in the future and attempt to unlock at that time.

i thought new policy is unlock automatically in 2 months after activation, no?
2 months is for all the recently bought by Verizon MVNOs but Boost is not one of them. I have to believe that will change at some point. Discounted phones + 1 month of tracfone services for $10 before automatically unlocking is just too good to last. Even $30 or $40 for a month at one of the others is often still a very good deal. Push it out to 6 months, require active service for how ever many months are required. Something will probably change as they can't keep selling the phones at a discount and not making it back somehow.

You just cancel the new plan and switch phone to your $15 plan. You can also use esim with iphone 12 instead of physical sim
$149. for the iPhone 12 and how is that even legal?
I was at City Hall waiting in line for some paperwork, and at 12 pm the clerk mentioned he was going out for Lunch until 1 pm.
Someone asked him " Is it Legal for you to go to Lunch ?"

That's what I did with the other deal. I activated the $15 plan using the IMEI of the iPhone. After 3 months it renews at $45 for another 3 months. It's not know if this will satisfy the 12-month unlock requirement, but technically it should.
