FWIW - GPU 600 + Microcenter/Newegg bundle deal 12700k 400 = 1000 + (1TB 50 + AIO 90 + Case 100 + Psu 100) = 1340 plus tax for 32GB DDR5 system and non-proprietary HP stuff. Add $50 to get a 13700k deal. You can save on $130+ on the GPU by going AMD.
(not taking into account HP's propietary cooling system)
I actually grabbed this a couple weeks ago at nearly the same price. My price was $1350 with the help of cash back offers. I was in need of a desktop and I was looking for the cheapest 4070/4070ti pre built. If you care about specs then DD4 is disappointing. I guess HP had to get rid of these boards to make room for something else. The HP Omen app allows you to "overclock" the RAM from 3200 Mhz to 3733 Mhz.
More details if anyone is curious, my unit came with...
Motherboard: HP Blizzard OC 8917
RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4-3733/PC4-29800 CL21
HD: 1TB WD PC SN560 SDDPNQE-1T00-1006
Overall I'm satisfied with this PC and I love the case. I'm open to a return if a better deal appears for black Friday but I honestly dont have any complaints.
frankenstein overpriced build with cpu that's 2 generations old paired with rtx 4070, why O why? ... rest of the parts are mediocre, would pay no more than $1200 for this type of rig.

Any prebuilt recommendations (preferably from HP as pre-built from them has served me well over the years) or even a better recent deal even if expired? I'd like to buy this for my son for his birthday this month.

$1500 Budget.
honestly some of the recent deals are very much lukewarm if not flat out terribad, i would recommend you to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for thanksgiving deals. This year retail sales has been terrible, so expect sizable discounts.

I dunno man.
Seems as if the manufacturers are playing chicken with us. If they reduce supply and jack the prices up, they create the supply/demand. People have to buy things.

That is what I am thinking. The thumbs down have to be from builders or those who wish the prices were lower or remember when the prices were lower.
I've been shopping for an Omen for a bit, unless I am missing something, this is a great deal in context with the times. There is zero risk in buying this and then seeing if something better comes along over the next 2 months.

Is this an objectively good deal for an HP Omen with these specs?
