The tests ensure the speaker can reach the high volumes necessary to achieve THX Reference Level, without creating audible distortion or artifacts. THX® Certified Ultra products are designed for large rooms, up to 3,000 cubic feet in size, with a 10~12 foot viewing distance from the screen.
  • 13" Woofer: The Monolith™ 13" driver was developed from the ground up, with a design focus on achieving output, accuracy, dynamics, and linearity, while minimizing distortion. It is enclosed in a cabinet made from HDF material, with massive internal bracing, and outfitted with three ports that can use foam plugs to run the subwoofer in sealed, semi‑sealed, or ported mode, as you see fit.
  • 2000 Watt Amplifier: The 2000‑watt (RMS) amplifier (3800+‑watt peak) is built around a Texas Instruments® 48‑bit data path, with 28‑bit filter coefficients, and DSP engine. Each amplifier's transfer function, power output limiting, and thermal protection are monitored to the millisecond and are customized for each individual driver. The high efficiency Class D amplifier modules are based on a proven topology that has been continuously refined over the past 8 years. My friend that works at monoprice told me about this deal and has confirmed that most of the subs on this sale are in fact new items. Monoprice are simply trying to meet sale quotas before the end of year. That explains why so many in stock!
I wish they would sell out so I could stop considering these.
As someone whose Monolith 12 v2 amp died after 15 months and is currently going through an RMA process, I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. If it had the full 5 year warranty, it would be tempting.

Obviously it didn't represent their actual stock for this product, so it's not reliable.
How can you say obviously? Based on canceling the orders and then opening orders up again to only cancel again? I see nothing that says obviously. So again if they have 100 for sale you think they just use a rng to get any number for 1 to 1,000 or something? It was a long time ago that I worked retail for a little bit and our numbers were based only actually 3 less than we had.

I can confidently say that monoprice obviously didn't have 180+ Monolith 13 Open Boxes in stock. Based not only on logic but also comments earlier in this thread where people stated that they had multiple orders cancelled prior to this deal ever being posted on SD. There was some type of issue with their system. If you choose to believe that they actually had 180+ of these Open Box laying around and they just decided to cancel peoples' orders for god knows why, that's cool.

Sometimes companies sell new items as scratched and dent or open box to clear inventory. Or maybe they needed fast cash for a few days, IDK but I don't believe they just put in random numbers. Whatever happened I believe it was calculated. If there truly was a issue with the system they could have totally eliminated the item from their inventory so it could go up for sale again. Also it would have made more sense for them to explain the system issue to their customers instead of a simple no stock.

So this deal got cancelled for most? Saves me some FOMO. CRAZY deal if people actually got them at this price.
