That happens automatically using Optimus in all laptops with nvidia dedicated card. If you want any applications to always use dedicated or integrated GPU, you can configure that in Nvidia Control Panel.
As someone stated, there are cheaper options for those who do not need OLED.
I had bought this back in May/June open box for $720. The biggest drawback is the screen the colors are just super saturated and no matter what settings the yellows look orgaene and orange looks red. Doesn't charge through the USB -C and uses a barrel type charger, the battery life is also not that great, I would say it's meh for the price would be slick at $600!

If you don't need the oled display then there are deals with better specs than this
If you want the same brightness level or HDR without OLED, you would need to pay a lot more for miniLED display.

Is this the best deal out there or wait till black Friday. I really need a new computer that can handle big data modeling applications while on teams meetings without lagging
It depends on what is important to you. As a package, you won't get a much better deal any time soon.

Sure, here ya go:

$250 less for same 6 GB RTX 3050, 8 GB RAM easily upgradeable.
After a lot of research, I've determined this HP Victus is the best deal. The others are Gateway. Buying a Gateway laptop means buying an extended warranty, since the brand is questionable at best.

$300 less for 4 GB RTX 3050, same 16 GB RAM, larger 1 TB SSD, 17" IPS, but it's a Gateway: https://slickdeals.net/f/17024701-gaming-laptop-with-rtx-3050ti-17-3-fhd-ips-120hz-i7-11800h-16gb-ram-1-tb-ssd-gateway-499-microcenter-in-store?v=1

$50 less for RTX 4060 8 GB:

For gamers, 6 GB 3050 makes a huge difference.. GTX 3050 6 GB vastly outperforms both the GTX 3050 Ti 4 GB and GTX 3050 4 GB. I was surprised by how big the difference is.

Benchmarks demonstrating 3050 6 GB vastly outperforming:

There's no way these OLED displays cost $300 to produce, this is a $500 laptop with a $300 screen

The HP deal is for a laptop with 8 GB of RAM, an extra pound+ weight, and a much poorer (250-nit, 16:9, non-OLED) screen.

It's also much cheaper, with the exact same graphics card, and very easy to add 8 GB system RAM. Besides, my post was in response to Eagles and Tamer, who specifically asked about non-OLED laptops. If you think you can suggest anything better, by all means try. My post basically encompassed the best possible answer for them, considering all current laptop deals and the fact this is Slickdeals, where people want to spend less money.

I would go with the HP, along with gamers and those who plan to hook it up to a monitor for a good portion of the time.

Sure, fair enough, if you're gaming and using a monitor, the HP is the better deal. I haven't had great experiences with HP, but some of their models have good reputations.

Yes that's my point, because 50% more video memory makes a HUGE difference in gaming. Some 3050 6 GB cards are even as fast, or faster than certain 4050's (mostly underpowered, I believe, but still, factory config of certain laptops,) believe it or not. I was surprised at how much faster the 6 GB 3050 is than the 4 GB 3050. I was also surprised by how much faster the 6 GB 3050 is than the 4 GB 3050 Ti.

Laptop graphics cards cannot be upgraded, so that's why it's so vitally important. One can always upgrade the RAM or connect to an external monitor, but upgrading the graphics card is not possible.

I've had very good experiences with HP and would consider the brand to be as good as Lenovo, even though Lenovo is probably considered better by most.

HP Victus 3050 6 GB deal is currently the best budget gaming laptop deal, by far imo. It's not even close. The benchmarks speak for themselves. $50 additional savings if buying open box.

Of course in this case it's the same exact graphics card, but for $250 to $300 less.

The 6GB 3050 has more shaders,/TMUs, faster GPU and memory clock etc, it's not just more memory.

Thanks, I was not aware of that. Now it makes more sense why the performance is so much better. Repped!

From another thread, a quote from 52 rep point, 244
post Slickdealer registered in 2018: (genuine account)

"I'll second Thor on this. You can't upgrade the GPU in a laptop so it's imperative to get what you want when you purchase. Go with the 6gb version of the 3050. I've got the 3050ti but it's a 4gb version and it's power is gimped down too. I'm happy with it and can play anything I've thrown at it from the last generation of games but the 4gb does hamper performance with certain games. For instance, I could really use that 2gb in RDR2. It's the difference in higher quality shadows, draw distances, quality of foliage, etc. The Outer Worlds...that 2gb would've helped it too. It doesn't sound like much but id highly recommend it. 4gbs just isn't enough nowadays, barely was enough for the last generation, and though it doesn't ruin the experience, you'll find yourself being hampered by it."

USB-C charging totally works on this, I bought this same laptop back in July and I use USB-C instead of the barrel-jack. Just make sure you have a proper charger and cable that supports the required wattage (I use a pair rated for 100W) and plug it into the port labeled for power-delivery.
