Maker Bright lists the Pi 5 4 GB and 8 GB in stock. I have never ordered from them, but they are listed as an authorized vendor by Raspberry Pi.
No free shipping however.
4 GB @ $ 60 https://makerbright.com/raspberry-pi-5-4gb.html
I plan on holding off on the case as I'll eventually be ordering a few HATs.
A USPS ship label was created ~ 2 hours afterwards, I'll update when it shows up as actually shipped.
Disables pihole for 60 secs.

If you are buying this to run services or desktop replacement, just go with an Intel n95 or n100 mini pc. They are still 2x faster than the pi 5 and 4-5x faster than pi 4. By the time you buy a case and storage and power supply for the pi 5, you could just have a better mini pc that runs windows or any Linux version and you don't have to buy more for it.

I use mine to run HomeBridge to link unsupported items to HomeKit. For example, a Reolink doorbell, some Govee lights, Tapo cameras all play nice together

what are these even good for nowadays
There ARE lots of applications, but new developments have certainly reduced over the years due to the shortages and limited availability. That motivated most to find other solutions. I personally moved pretty much everything I was running on a Pi over to Docker containers on my Synology NAS and that has made life WAY better/easier. But some projects require the hardware interface that the Pi offers and for those it's trickier to find a replacement.
You can also run it on Windows. I was just saying there are good uses for SBCs - the statement was "what are THESE even good for nowadays". I was just making the statement SBCs are nice to have at times.
Pi zero w2 is harder to find in stock than 4/5 now a days.
As for projects:
Retropi is a fun build for a pi 4/5
I agree but is getting easier though. I have purchased 4 of them for various projects over the past 2 months. Also, last I used it, pihole ran great on a first gen zero, and those can very easily be found at any time.

There are million of SBCs out there but none has the support and user base of Pi's. CPU horsepower isn't always the only thing to consider.

Pi hole blocks all the links from slickdeals. Is there a fix?
