I got this for $200 in June for my son. It's nice. Probably will drop to that again on BF.

Response time is very slow, along most refresh rates (check RTINGS review on this.) It says it's 2ms, but doesn't seem to be the case.

Why is VA panels looked so down at? Is it because of what's out now ie oled?

A good IPS will have better response time and color accuracy. All IPS screens have better viewing angles when not perfectly centered. This part of it doesn't really bother me because most people sit directly center of their monitor.
