I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

I just ordered as a new Verizon member and they made me pick a plan. I chose the cheapest one which was around $65/month. Is that right to have to pick a plan since I'm hoping to just do the cash buyout and cancel later?

Why, early paying off a loan in full is allowed by state Law.
That and it's not like these carriers haven't realized people may do this. They know all their loopholes.

So if I can't cancel it within the 3 days...that's is $65 on the top of the pay off price of the phone? Or they will do pro rate?

I ordered from WM when the deal went live for WM+ customers and chose Verizon as a new customer. A few hours after ordering I received an email from VZ notifying me that my account email had been changed and I should contact them if I did not initiate the change. I called VZ and they could not find my account (since I had never created it). I provided a few PI details and they were able to find the new phone number I was assigned with the phone purchase. I used that information to create my VZ account. My VZ account has the pdf's for the device payment agreement, service agreement, etc. A welcome letter is there also - with a date of Nov. 11, 2023 - which is the expected delivery date for my device. The welcome letter states: "This letter confirms your activation of wireless service for number (xxx-xxx-xxxx) on Nov. 8, 2023. Based on this information it appears my activation started on the day I made the purchase. On Nov. 8 after I created my VZ account I contacted VZ requesting to pay-off the device. The representative indicated to me that she was not able to submit the payment until 11/23/2023. Seems as if something in there system was preventing payment until after 14 days. I'll try and visit a VZ store today and see if they will accept the payment. I have a feeling I will be stuck with the activation fee + 14 days of service before I can cancel and not risk the required return of the device.
Update:
I just called VZ and asked to pay off the loan amount for my device - the representative look up my account and indicated I owed $299 - I agreed and she emailed me a link to enter the credit card info - for a payment of $299. I submitted the payment and asked for a email confirmation indicating my installment loan was paid - I received email confirmation: Hi, Thank you for processing a payment for your device with an agreement id : xxxxxxxxxx for an amount of $299.00. Thank you for doing business with Verizon. I also asked about the 60 day sim unlock - and she indicated the clock started on Nov. 8

Not sure if you were interested in getting the price fixed instead of returning, but I called the payments department at Walmart and after about 40 mins of them researching the issue (price of $299/36mo on their side, $579/36mo on Verizon side), they (Walmart) processed a refund adjustment for the difference. They said it would be sent back to the card used to purchase the device within 7 business days. They noted the Verizon contract price would remain unchanged.
Thanks for the info - how did you get in touch with that department?

I got same canceled thing. Lidia on chat said wait 4.5 hours, use same FOP, same device, order exact same configuration. She said do not wait more than 24 hours. I was like "10:30pm central time" and she said yes, and again said but not more than 24 hours later
did you try again and then it works?

Sick and tired of VZ and ATT with these 36 months game. I have vz with all 4 lines eligible to upgrade. I was fine at 24 months, but these nonsense have to stop.

I would rather them come out with transference pricing for phones. That cost is built in the plan.

It's like car dealership experience. Someone needs to build Tesla of wireless phone company...
I was in the same boat. I am on the Start plan. I went to Costco yesterday and upgraded all my lines. Got new phones to trade in my old and i got 100 dollars costco card for each line. And no change to bill . 3 lines on the Start Plan and 1 line on Playmore. No change to plans or monthly bill. I pay 110 dollars. I dont know who can beat that price really. So i have on issue sitting on the phone for 3 years.

Sorry to hear this...I was one click away from ordering this as new VZ yesterday but got a gut feeling so I exited out...looks like the worse case is you pay half a month if service which could be about $30 if you chose the cheapest plan plus whatever the activation fee on the top of $299 + tax...and a trip to the store...it would be like almost $600 for me (cost + time effort).
The only thing I like about iPhone 13 is it's the last that still has physical sim card...I probably just get one with Apple.

I called 888-516-2614, then option 2, then option 5.

Editing to clarify that this is the number for the Walmart payments department.

Can you share which phones did u get? I am on the same plans as you. Though you had to upgrade the plan to get any meaningful deal from Costco as well?

Did anyone who had their order canceled by Walmart yesterday for "unusual activity" reorder successfully?
