Sorry to hear this...I was one click away from ordering this as new VZ yesterday but got a gut feeling so I exited out...looks like the worse case is you pay half a month if service which could be about $30 if you chose the cheapest plan plus whatever the activation fee on the top of $299 + tax...and a trip to the store...it would be like almost $600 for me (cost + time effort).
The only thing I like about iPhone 13 is it's the last that still has physical sim card...I probably just get one with Apple.
If you just accept paying the activation fee and the first month of service in whole, then you're still looking at only $400 for a brand new unlocked phone (and you don't need to drive anywhere). Still a very good deal.

I also ordered a Verizon iPhone on Nov 8 right after this deal became live. I downloaded the agreement documents on the final checkout page which includes the phone number assigned. I never received any email from Verizon about my account. I then registered for a Verizon account but was unable to link the phone number to the account on Nov 8, but today, Nov 9, I was able to associated the phone number and was able to see the complete list of documents online, including the activation letter also dated Nov 11. It says:

"Dear XXX,

Thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless. This letter confirms your activation of wireless service for number (XXX) XXX-XXX on November 08, 2023. We have also listed the details concerning your wireless service below. For your records, enclosed is a copy of your Customer Agreement.

For additional details regarding your service, please refer to the back of this letter.

Sincerely,
Verizon Wireless"

Another document called Customer Agreement shows text saying "Activation Fee will be credited if service is cancelled within 3 day."

So it appears the phone was activated on purchase date, not delivery date as I had initially thought from reading other comments. If my phone arrives by tomorrow within the 3 days I can confirm activation (by make a call or text) and then cancel via customer service or port out. For those with delayed delivery, you might confirm online if your account has been activated and cancel it before the 3 days to be able to get refund on the $35 activation fee (or set your expectations to pay it as part the this deal).
What info did you need to register for a Verizon account?

It's odd that I have not received any email from Verizon to set up the account. My walmart order status shows order being processed with 11/14 delivery date. Should I call VZ? When I try to create acct at verizon with new number assigned during placing walmart order it returns msg "We aren't able to validate this as an active Verizon number. Please double-check your number or activate your device."
Probably delayed, I ordered yesterday around 9:10am PT

I also ordered the Verizon phone on November 8th and have not received any emails from Verizon. I did call their customer service line and gave them my new phone number (supplied by Walmart at checkout). They said that the line was not activated and would not be until I turned on my phone. They also said I could not pay in full for the phone till I received and activated it. So, some conflicting information here since the previous poster said his documents already indicate that the line is activated.

It is interesting how many people make up things not in writing.

Like a 3 day rule activation fees and pro-rated monthly for buying something online despite the two actual contracts you must sign before it will allow checkout.
Did you even read what you signed ?

Says right in the contract account agreement

Not sure what to do - I may swallow the fat pill of the activation + 14 day service to avoid any risk of a forced return of the device.
I'll contact Verizon today if I have a phone number associated to the email on the account. I don't mind eating the activation fee if I can easily pay off and only pay for a prorated plan

The new Verizon phone number assigned during checkout if you remember to write it down. I think Verizon customer service can look it up using your name and SSN.

You got a new number assigned during the wm.com checkout? I didn't see a phone number assigned to me other than my city. Mine is due to arrive on 11/12 and no email from Verizon either.
Hopefully email from VZ will come today. I ordered 2 phones from 2 wally accts, but unfortunately noted down only one phone no (the second order from other walmart acct).

I tend to agree with you here. I believe Apple is controlling the Unlock period here and it just needs to be "triggered" with activation then in 60 days it gets unlocked. Apple policy not really the carriers choice???? But im not really sure thats true across the board for all Iphones / carriers.
Id does not explain why some places require longer for unlock.
